Executing AppleScript code

I have a function in AppleScript. This function is supposed to tell AppleScript to execute a piece of code found in a string.

This ability would be useful in cases where one wants AppleScript to download and run code from, say, a Webpage.

Is it any different than a run script or Script Editor link?
