compatibility
i have a WD elements external hard drive and a WD TV HD Media Player. if i format the hard drive to be able to transfer stuff from my macbook pro onto it, will the media player still be able to read the hard drive? or do i have to format the hard drive also?

Look into the manual of the WD TV HD Media Player and find what file system it needs, then format the external HDD accordingly.
Or do you mean something else?
