I am currently editing a movie trailer in iMove with video footage I took w/ my iPhone 4S in 1080P. When I use "stabilization analyzed" of a 1 min clip, a app I have running on my bar shows my CPU is maxed out. What gives? Nothing freezes on me. I have iMove, mail, calendar and one window in safari open. My iMac is a 2011 27in w/ 2.7 GHz i5 with 16 GB of RAM.

That's pretty standard. It's a very complex process to stablize video. Every pixel of every frame is being analzyed and then moved, duplicated, shaped, etc.
