I just an iPad mini (today!!! I'm so happy and excited) and I need some good recommendations for covers. I will be taking this with me on a daily 1.5-2 hour commute on public transportation so I want my mini to be well-protected. So far I was thinking of getting the apple Smart Cover and the cover buddy from switch easy http://www.switcheasy.com/product/CoverBuddy_iPadmini. That'll be ~$60 for both though, and while I'm willing to spend the money, I'm just wondering if anyone has any other, possibly less expensive favorites? Let me know, and thanks in advance!

Hi again SD,

No I am not following you but I commented on this thread a few days ago and it looks like a money saver and a good combination: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1526602/

If you want an iPad mini case that's protective but not overly bulky I would recommend the new Maroo mini cases. I just got one and will post a review soon.

They are durable leather, have protective "bumpers' for the corners of the mini, close securely (with Smart Cover funtionality), and have a built in stylus holder. I have the purple and it's beautiful.

i just got a Speck Candyshell for the iPad Mini and I like how it feels in the hand and keeps the iPad Mini slim and trim! I also like how the Candyshell works for the iPhone so go figure!

It doesn't work with the smart cover but does lip around the front of the screen to protect it some what.

I also have a stand for the iPad Mini.
