Apple Seeds iOS 6.1 Beta 5 to Developers

In a relatively rare weekend release, Apple today pushed out the fifth beta of iOS 6.1 to developers. The release comes just two days before the fourth beta, which was seeded on December 17, is scheduled to expire.

No public release timeframe for iOS 6.1 is known yet, but registered developers can download the latest beta via Apple's Developer page.

Apple delaying releasing 6.1 because the jailbreak will be released immediately after.

Hurry up Apple, I want my 5 icon dock and SBSettings back!

Interesting release on a Saturday. Must have gotten delayed and they had to push it out before beta 4 expired.

Whether you believe it'll be a huge overhaul or not, they are clearly dedicating resources to iOS 7. 6.x is old news aside from bug fixes.

lol at the people who are disappointed. Did you really expect an iOS revamp from the ground up from a point release?

You get bug fixes, and some polishes and thats it. Whether you like it...or you like it.

Aren’t these small .x updates only supposed to be optimization, bug fixes etc...? Or am I wrong?

It's not that big of a deal. Making fun of it is just making it into a bigger deal.

Release notes haven't been uploaded

I updated my iPhone 5 and they changed the baseband.

At this point in time, I'm convinced the new baseband and expiration date extension are the only changes.

Build number of a final build and not a GM, installs and activates without UDID registration, and has no ReleaseType lockdown Keys.

normal procedure beta or GM they go to developers first before the public.. so maybe next week for everyone else, who knows?

Because GM comes before public consumption. Its what the public will (barring any major flaws) get, just not when.

I don't think they will release anytime soon till jailbreak drops first...it's a waiting game.
