Apple has issued updates for MacBook, MacBook Pro, and MacBook Air notebook models to fix a rare battery issue. The updates are available via Apple's software updates page or through Software Update and the Mac App Store.

Same thing's happened to me before, they don't always seem to play nice with external media that's been plugged in on boot.

Not for Late 2012 MBP

Tried installing the downloaded package. It doesn't appear to be for a MacBookPro9,2.

Models supported

Looking inside the updates, they are for the following:

MacBook
MacBook7,1 (13-inch, Mid 2010)

MacBook Air
MacBookAir3,1 (11-inch, Late 2010)
MacBookAir3,2 (13-inch, Late 2010)
MacBookAir4,1 (11-inch, Mid 2011)
MacBookAir4,2 (13-inch, Mid 2011)

MacBook Pro
MacBookPro7,1 (13-inch, Mid 2010)
MacBookPro8,1 (13-inch, Early 2011 or Late 2011)

The MacBook disk image from the Apple support download page appears to be damaged - I got an error "There may be a problem with this disk image. Are you sure you want to open it?". I was able to examine the package after clicking the Open button, but it might be safer for MacBook users to get this one via Software Update until Apple fixes the image. The other two disk images mounted OK.

Edit: it occurs to me that the bad image might be a problem on my nearest Akamai mirror. Anyone else have problems mounting the MacBook disk image? (I downloaded it twice, didn't help.)

Or MBP10,1 (retina mid-2012).

I started having this problem about two weeks ago. I went to sleep with my battery holding its normal charge and in the morning it was completely shut off. When I plugged my power cord in, it showed a green light. When I loaded everything up i looked at my battery icon and it showed 0% charged and not charging - replace now.

I just got this update, but it hasn't resolved the issue. Not sure if I need to do something extra to get it to work or what...

Help?

Nothing for my Mid 2011 MBA 13" either...It's up for sale anyway.

** Edit**

Just remembered, I DID get the update after I performed a non-destrucitve re-install of OSX prior to the sale! My Bad.

My computer just hit 1000 load cycles and unexpectedly shut down then restarted. It has never done that before and when I turned it back on the first thing I did was go to macrumors and this article is at the top of the page.
