Google Glass Can Use iPhone's Data Connection Via Bluetooth
![]() The Verge's Joshua Topolsky has written a lengthy piece about his experiences using Google Glass, the company's new on-face computer. Google Glass is a tiny computer that mounts to an eyeglass frame and has a small display that is visible only to the user. The wearable device has a built-in camera that sees what the wearer sees, GPS, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth connections. The glasses can handle many of the same tasks as smartphones, including giving driving directions, sending text messages, showing weather reports and more. ![]() Quote:

Who knows
It's like everything else new; you won't know until you try it, and for a while- until the gee-wiz wears off. Which makes this, at something like $1500, A bloody edge. |

Just what we need, more ass-hats talking to themselves in public.

This is something I would try, but the ridiculous price and overall market for this isn't great, I don't think. Especially when you bring in how common it is for people to break their glasses, if it's $1,500 new, I'm sure repairs and replacement costs will be through the roof. This is a good attempt at a futuristic product, I just don't think it will find a big enough group of supporters in order to keep it around for long. It does everything your phone already does for the most part, only voice controlled and with a little extra ease of use. I think a lot of people will laugh at the product, regardless of the price attached.

If my opinion is that girls are from Venus, my opinion is wrong.

Ooh, a pedantic subthread! Actually, if you thought girls were from Venus that would not be an opinion. You would just be misinformed. Opinions are subjective assessments, not factual statements, and as such can not be wrong. Your misunderstanding of the definition of the word opinion does not constitute a credible argument.

You are apparently unfamiliar with modern American political discourse.

My final statement: The Chromebook Pixel is a terrible idea, no matter how good the product itself might be. While the chromebook in general is a fine product, making a half baked notebook more expensive than any other product of its kind on the market is not. That being said, Google Glass is merely, in my opinion, a stupid product. The technology is cool, don't get me wrong, but why do I want to wear something like that on my face? For everyone on this same forum who said SIRI was stupid cause you had to talk to it in public must think this is a terrible product...in theory. I have no issues with Google, I'm just not impressed with their latest bringings. That goes the same for Apple. Either way, I'm curious to see the evolution of Google Glass.

This looks ok..
....right up until the point i read it uses Bluetooth or tethered to you iPhone, and connect over Wi-Fi on order to successfully use this thing. Theres goes your data ![]() As if people don't already have huge bill they over-see after they roam internationally, this will only add further to this, because the mind set is "This is soo cool" This will be changed to "this soo sux" when they get their bill from their carrier This reminds me of picture-in-picture...... that didn't really find it in todays TV's How is this any different? to the fact that "The only reason why keeping this alive is people are demanding its just "cool factor" And this, just only we have a piece of existing technology, but now its part of something, like glass, we never had before, suddenly makes it "I want one". Not interested. but it looks good.. Another thing, this will only further go via the privacy thing..

Depends on the opinion I think. If someone's opinion is that apples are blue, that opinion refers to a fact about apples, that apples are not blue. So it's wrong. But most opinions refer to things that are not known or can't be known, but can be discussed, and as such can't be correct or wrong.
