I am not sure if it has been asked before...
Newegg.com has 1.8' drives available for not all that much money - they have both 30G and 60G varieties.
I have a 3G 10GB iPod that I would possibly like to upgrade - does anyone know if it is possible to simply stick a 60GB drive in?
This upgrade would be way cheaper than the new 60GB 5G iPod, and I don't care all that much for click wheel anyway, even less so for video capability...
Has anyone tried it yet?

I looked into this as well as my 3g 10 gig hd is dead. But the 40gig was much thicker than the 10gig so I would suspect that a 60 gig would not be possible. Plus you have to make sure that the 1.8' drive you get matches pin for pin. I think mine has a Hitachi HD in in but I's have to crack it open to make sure. There are some sites out there that talk about swapping out the HD Here
