So I have a pb and mini with similar stats. The mini is 1.5 ghz g4/512/combo and my 12" pb is 1.5 ghz/1.25gb/superdrive.

Whe I rip dvds with my mini, it normally goes at 18-20 fps.

I just got the pb and figured it would be at least the same, if not faster because of the ram(although I didn't think that would make a difference).

But it's going at about 10-11 fps. What could the problem be? I use handbrake for both and I turned off all other apps. The pb is even completely clean; I haven't transferred any of my files over yet. I don't get it.

Combo vs. SuperDrive

My bet is, its just the speed of the optical drive... Thats what the slowest link in the chain will be. Check the stats on both, I will bet the Combo is much faster reading DVD's.

I went to system profiler and can't seem to find the read speed. Do you know how I can find that out?
