iPod Why isn't number of new podcasts / apps showing

I've just upgraded my G5 iMac (iSight) to Leopard. Having a few teething problems, inlcuding in iTunes the number tag next Podcasts and Apps is not showing the number of new items - just a grey blob.

Anyone know how to rectify this?
