iPod iPod Classic not holding charge...even with new battery

My iPod Classic 160gb isn't holding a charge. I just replaced the battery and it won't hold. I generally use it in my car and hooked up to the head unit with iPod controls. As soon as I unplug it, it drains completely within a minute and asks to be plugged in. It's useless now unless connected to something. Any thoughts?
