Format Macbook Pro

So I've searched and searched on google to format my Macbook Pro, they say to put in the original install disks then start up the Mac and go from there. Well when I do that nothing happens, and when I go to disk utilities it can do the erase files but I want to just format it and not external hard drives!


I suck with technical stuff!
