I just bought my 13" MBP over the weekend and noticed that it really gets hot on the bottom. Is this normal? Anything I can do to prevent this? Thanks in advance.

From what I heard, macbook pro are considerably more hotter than any laptop/computer because of the aluminum unibody. Aluminum basically is a heat conductor.

Unfortunately Apple places style over functionality.

As much as I enjoy the various MacBook Pros I own, they run at substantially higher temps than the identically configured ThinkPads I use.

Apples choice of a fully enclosed aluminum housing for the MBP lineup, at less than an inch deep, put them behind the curve when it comes to thermal management. If one is looking for a laptop than will run fast & cool under full load, the MBP is going to disappoint.
