Dedication.... Glad to hear the store is being hospitable towards you.

Have the cops given you any trouble for "urban camping"? I know in some places it's against the law and an arrest able offense.

I think it's kinda crazy (I'd be bored to tears without at least a laptop if I tried that) if that is what he finds fun.

Though honestly, Justin, I gotta wonder, why not get a job at the Apple store if you like it so much (I know, easier said then done. But you already know the people working there and they like you so that gives you a leg up)? I'm sure there is some way to work around your siezures to work retail. Even if it was just part time short shifts.

I may think he's nuts for doing this, but he seems like good people. You dudes that live in Dallas, stop by when you can and give him a bottle of water or a sandwich. Gotta make sure he maintains his health over the next week.

Frakking Awesome!

Dude you rock and you beat me to it! :)

If I lived in Dallas I'd so be camped out next to you but alas I'm outside Chicago, so no go there. I have an incredibly busy weekend so I can't start camping until Monday and since I don't have an Apple Store near me I'm doing at AT&T lol. They may tell me to leave and if they do I will but I really love camping out. I did it for Dead and Phish tickets in the 80's and 90's, the Star Wars movies, a PS3 and PSP but never an iPhone! I just got lucky for my 3G and 3GS. :)

You have a nice set up too. I hope everything goes smooth, no hooligans frakking with ya and what not. Some people, as you can tell here, are just aholes and like nothing more than to piss on someone elses parade, just can't stand someone else who's taking life by the balls and enjoying it.

Sorry to hear about your disability, I too am disabled, frakking Iraqi with an AK47 saw to that but I digress, have a great time, keep updating and I'll keep reading and when I start my camp out I'll post here with ya if ya don't mind. :)

Peace my friend!
-Jay

Hey. He's here in Texas so maybe he has his CHL.

Seriously? Nice! I owe you a beer! Like Magic Hat #9?

Never tried it but always open to free beer. :D

Great work Geckotek! Good luck Justin! Stay hydrated...

Thanks, glad to facilitate something interesting/positive here on MR.

I think Steve Jobs should offer to be Justin's first FaceTime caller!

YES!!! That would be EPIC!

One of the managers just came out and told me I am officially the first costumer out camping in the nation! Awesome! Lets keep the lines forming!

I told you didn't I?! Congrats man, I hope you have a great time.

What if some tuff urban guy with tattos cuts in front of the line... lmao...

I'll come kick his ###. Actually, I'll bet the Apple employees beat me to it.

Stay cool, Justin! I saw you on TV today right after they showed 100/101 temps for the next 5 days, with 99s and 98s after that.

Which channel? I've been looking online to see if I could catch of glimpse of the coverage. Missed it all while I was out for dinner tonight.

I'm going to paypal Gecko to get you some food or something you'd like. Glad a fellow MR member is there!

Hahaha, no need. If he needs something I'll run it by.

I am watching Star Trek, and laughed when I thought about Geckotek making "first contact". Ha!

Yes, I am a nerd. :D

This actually made me LOL.

Justin, I live pretty close to where you are (turtle creek area) If you want we could figure out a time I could come over and watch after your stuff if you need to leave and get cleaned up and/or pick up some more supplies.

I'm going to camp out with some friends the night before but I'm going to meet them at the TCU store.

Sounds like youre having fun, stay safe!

Dave.

Dave and I recently realized we live a couple of blocks apart. Same offer. Need something, drop us a line.

What I think is funny is that the guy who waits a few days for the ps3 will call the guy who waits a week for a phone dumb, but then the guy who will wait one day will call them both dumb, then the Amish fellow in the corner thinks all three are idiots!

Hahahaha, good one!

He said he was on disability for seizure episodes. Tbh the first I thought is, well if he can camp out a week for a cell phone with his seizure problems, he could probably work. I personally would rather see the guy do something more productive but if this is like a vacation to him and it means living life, I have his back. He seems to have thought everything out so good for him.

Yes, but you don't know his full circumstances. You can sit back and judge all day without knowing the full story...but it's pointless and messed up if you ask me. Only those that truly know his circumstances can judge.

psst... keep it down, Justin is sleeping right now.

= fun thread again

LOL...Joe beat me to it.

Haha I certainly hope so! I'm originally from Az and when I go back I always carry. Here in IL I still carry but well it's not exactly legit. ;)

+ If I didn't have Hell weekend here helping out my mom have a huge yard sale at her house, I'd drive down there. I love driving and Tx? Well it may not be Az but it's a damn sight better than Commie IL lol. I do worry about this fella though, if you did that here in Chicago you'd be dead in a night, I'm guessing Dallas is a little more laid back? :)

He's actually on the very edge of the richest part of Dallas. But he's also across the highway from an older, lower income area as well. For the most part, he should be pretty safe. Although as some have mentioned, that area is close to some clubs/bars. Hopefully nobody will come and screw with him.

I wasn't trying to be mean. I was just saying that it might be a fun job for him if he really likes Apple that much. I mean shoot, I'd *LOVE* a job there myself (tried once, need to try again). And what made me say that is that when I did hte group interview there was a guy there that seemed he already was in, it was just a formality (he was known by all the employees and known to hang out there a lot). I got the impression Justin also is well known (and liked) by the employees so that in itself is a huge help in getting a job there.

I work retail and no, I don't know his circumstances, but I would think there could be some work around where he could still be helpful. And if not, then he can't work there, it was just a suggestion. Try not to be so defensive, sheesh.

I absolutely love this thread. I'm still giving this guy props. He's probably still awake right now too :)

This thread is history in the making, right along up there with the iPhone girl story, if not better.

Sorry, I guess I was a bit too defensive. Getting tired of some of the posts I saw on Engadget and YouTube. I agree, it might be a good job for him.

One thing I meant to mention is that he tells me he does a lot of volunteer work.

Local ABC news coverage

They call it the iPhone 4G
And one of the banners gets his name wrong (Jason instead of Justin)

I cant believe thats an apple store, I mean better than nothing but I thought they would have put a little more effort into it.

My plan is just to go to radioshack, wallmart or bestbuy at some point on the 24th and see if I get lucky, there might not be as big of a line their dont you guys think?

If not... oh well, my 3g can last me until August.

I'm not judging just giving my opinion. I have no idea of his moral or ethic demeanor. He could be a serial rapist and need his iPhone 4 HD camera to catalog his victims. He could donate blood and visit cancer wards with flowers every week. I don't know and didn't pass judgment on his charecter. He seems like a nice guy though. This is certainly something tough to pull off, but I'm not sure it's what most people would consider admirable. I like his viewpoint on it though.

He is definitely going to need one of these: :D

Lol Commie Austin! :)

I'm glad he's in a good neighborhood! Drunk people will probably **** with him, I mean they definitely would here lol. Hopefully that "Southern Hospitality" will be in full effect for him, it definitely seems to be the case with the Apple Store and such. I'm glad they are being that cool towards him. :)

He seems like a good dude. Like a lot of other people on here he struck a chord with me when I read his 1st post. I thought, yanno.. this guy is doin' his thing and he's got balls, doesn't give a frak about the haters, and is having a great time with life. He isn't dressing up in some frakked up animal costume thinking he's a damned tiger or something.. What do they call those nuts? Furriers or something? Lol whatever. This dudes ok in my book.

Hey Justin, I love your sense of adventure. There's no way I could pull this off, so it's very cool you're posting here, so we can "live" it with you. Stay safe, try to keep cool, good luck, and most importantly, have fun!
