Coverage of Apple's 2010 Fall Media Event

Outside Apple's media event in San Francisco (Source: CrunchGear)
Apple today is holding its traditional fall media event where it is expected to introduce several new and updated products and services, with iPods, iTunes, and Apple TV serving as the most frequent topics of rumor and speculation. The event is scheduled to kick off at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco at 10:00 AM Pacific Time / 1:00 PM Eastern Time, or just about one hour from now.

Just yesterday, Apple announced that it will be offering live video streaming of the event on limited platforms. In addition to Apple's video stream, we will be updating this article with coverage as the media event unfolds. We will also be issuing Twitter updates through our @MacRumorsLive account.

Apple's online stores around the world are currently down in advance of the event.

Sadly the stores went down when I was trying to purchase a case for my iPhone, but excited to see what comes out today!

I hooked up my Mac to the big screen TV and I'm ready to watch. If the new AppleTV and iTunes X is going to be all about streaming, then the reliability of this keynote stream will tell us a lot.

I'm at work, but my friend told me we'd be able to watch it on his MBP. What he didn't tell me was he's running 10.5 Now I'm stuck watching it on the 3.5" screen that is my iPhone.

I'll never get why Apple has to take down all their Apple online stores for hours before the event. Do they not have the capability of changing their webpage and adding new products in real time?

Live Broadcast Theory

I think this live broadcast by Apple is a demonstration of the broadcast capabilities of the iTV. Also they will announce Quicktime X for Windows.

Come on non-crappy Apple TV! Let's make this hobby a real product...for the children's sake.

Also hoping for FaceTime on iPod Touch so I can get one for my wife next summer with the Back To School Promotion discount when I upgrade my MBP to quad-core.

An iPad 4.2 update release date and preview would be nice too. They still need to seed it to developers, but still crossing my fingers for that preview!

assuming we get the final url.

if you don't have iOS or QuickTime X then...
for VLC this is how I think it should go:

load the url. it will load a bunch of clips in your VLC playlist. When it stops playing. Clear your playlist. reload the url. It will repopulate the playlist again. Skip to where you stopped watching.

I have my Political Philosophy class at noon. I don't want to go but I have to since we are going over Plato's The Republic and I have to write a paper on it. I would rather watch Jobs live but I can't. Also the class has only 10 students in it and he does not allow electronics. This class is going to be the longest since I know big things are going on and I can't witness it

Here's a thought: What if Apple could allow the new AppleTV to not only watch OnDemand content via streaming, but also allow LIVE content (sporting events, concerts) to be streamed to it?

About QT X for windows: They would have to do it if they want to allow streaming through iTunes.

Mmm I can't believe this. Maybe Apple will post a link for Quicktime X and it never stops playing. Can't believe they are gonna say "reopen every time it stops".
