I have my beloved 1G iPod touch, but a lot of my friends always play games with each other on Game Center, even on 2G iPod touches. Is there any possible substitute that can interact with Game Center? Or has there been any progress in porting iOS 4 to the 1G? I am going to try whited00r to at least get the look of iOS.

whited00r is still 3.1.3, it just looks like iOS 4.x. GameCenter will never work on the iPhone 2G or the iPod Touch 1G.

Oh, well. Yes, I know that whited00r is just for looks. Its just a little frustrating how you spend $400 on an iPod just for it not to work with software that comes out <3 years later

Just be happy that the Touches get updates past a year. Other iPod's like the Nano, Mini, and Classic don't get updates once the next version is out. Even if there are lots of bugs in the firmware.
