Hey everyone. I may take my iPad into the Genius Bar today for some display issues. What should I do and bring to this appointment?

Should I wipe my iPad (as in take restore it to default)?

Should I bring everything including the packaging and cables?

Any other things I should know?

I've always brought everything, cabels yada yada.
you don't need to wipe it, just make sure to take a backup, as you agree you have done in the contract they make you sign about lost data.

nothing. Just go in as they will take a look and IF (doubt it) they will exchange it(they probably dont have any in stock), they will just exchange the ipad 2.

I just backup my ipad2 before bringing it into the apple store. It had a dead pixel and was replaced with a brand new one 🙂

Just take it as normal ... make sure you've sync'd before hand so you have a backup but i've had 3 iphones swapped over the years and they always made me do the phone erase once they confirmed they were swapping so i knew it had happened before i handed the device over...

Ok thanks everyone. I did do a backup before I left. I brouhg the cables and such just incase. I'm on my way now. Let's hope they replace it!

I started with AppleCare over the phone and then went into the store with the Case #and got my Orig. swapped for the 2!

Make sure to transfer purchases off of the iPad, if you bought any direct from the pad (which I tend to do mostly)

I've had an iPod touch, an iPhone 3G, and like 6 iPhone 4's replaced, all I've ever brought was the phone itself, after backing it up.

You might want to clear you safari history before you go in there.

+1 clear internet history and remove all your sexy lady pron$', as long as they're backed in your computer you can put them back once you return home/they give your iPad back.

The rule is don't leave anything on it/in it you wouldn't want your grandma to see/

Delete your porn?

(Actually, I shouldn't kid, I've actually gotten asked if you should delete your porn before a genius bar appointment before, along with a description of... eclectic... tastes just for context.)
