So you don't think it's a problem that a regular iPhone 4 case doesn't fit the white model. Ok.

I'll believe that when I see it first hand. I think this is fake.

1mm is more than 10% of the thickness of the iphone 4. Do you really think that white iphone is 10% thicker than the black one? Even with the white iphone tipped in that picture to make it look thicker, it isn't 10% thicker.

But yes if it were really true it would be a problem.

Id be interested to know how much thicker it is. Its not issue for 99% of people, but can see how it might mess up some cases

Does Apple's website specs show this?

EDIT. Nope. Still 9.3 mm thin

I feel another lawsuit coming on.

Class action for 0.01 mm AND I am sure the glue is not dry and it will shrink.

Nothing a little hammer wouldn't fix:)

The apple two-for-one special - it's UGLY and FAT, and all you have to pay for is ugly.

God the iPhone 4 I'm trying this message on looks so much better than the white one.

I'd be amazed if you could say something non-trollish for once.

Those iPhones in the photo are the exact same size, just a simple case of forced perspective. The White iPhone is tilted ever so slightly to give the illusion of increased size.

At this point I'm sort of glad the iP5 won't (likely) come out until September. That'll give the white phone a few months of real world use. I'm curious if it'll still be white and pristine a few months from now.

Is this good for case manufacturers (more product varieties to sell, more shelf space allotted, more chance to sell a new case to a user who changes models) or a headache (less economy of scale, more customer confusion)?

Just says -

Depth: 0.37 inch (9.3 mm)...lies, available in white and black....

...oh well

I honestly think "0.37 inch" is probably accurate enough for both white and black, as they are probably both within 0.365-0.375 inches. 0.01 inches = 0.25 mm, which is more like what it looks like the difference is in the pic to me...

Uh no. This is a good thing for manufacturers. This means you have to buy another case. The last thing they want is for you to use the old one.

It's not, actually. Every time a change in the phone comes out, the manufacturer has to make new cases to reach those new customers, necessitating new tools/molds/whatever (so more cost on their end). Any manufacturer would prefer that the same case worked for all iPhone4s because then they would only have to spend the manufacturing dollars once to reach every iPhone4 customer. Plus, less confusion when people are buying cases.
