What's on T.V.?
Downton Abbey- Good human drama series on PBS, Masterpiece theater about a pre-WWI English family (titled) and their servants. Part 4 was this last Sunday. According to IMBD it was first shown in Oct 2010. Don't know if it is available on demand.
The other shows I am currently watching are: Big Love- Watching the Hendricks come apart. (last season HBO) Dexter- show is on hiatus. Has held my interest over the years. (Showtime) True Blood- I'm watching but disappointed in this series as compared to the books. Boardwalk Empire- show on hiatus. Good enough to watch. Modern Family- Pretty good replacement for Everyone Loves Raymond. ![]() Thinking about: V- I'm mulling over if I should give it a second chance. (ABC)

Check out the reality show that shows the life of Sara Palin!!!!!
After about 25 minutes, I was sound asleep. She and her family pretend to be all perfect and do things like rafting, vacationing, shooting guns, outdoor activity, camping, hiking, sports, etc...so essentially it is just showing me images of the exact same things I do in real life, except now I am lying on a couch, scratching my balls, and wishing it was actually me their and not them. The best tv shows ever are Psych and NCIS

Ooh, sounds similar to Gosford Park, one of my favorite movies. Netflix says the series is available for streaming on 2/9.

I was thinking about some nice curtains (all our C-Band satellites went dark last month, and I am not interested in small dish or cable when all I really have to do is look on this here "internet" thing).

Here in the UK I'm liking the new How TV Ruined Your Life with Charlie Brooker. Kinda funny. It's on BBC Two, Wednesdays at 10pm I think, and of course on iPlayer as well which is where I first saw it.

I was browsing through my Roku's/Netflix T.V offerings and stumbled across Spartacus: Gods of the Arena, the Stars series, a follow on prequel to Spartacus: Blood and Sand. I was thinking wow, another Rome... wrong! This is Rome on the cheap with weak writing, excessive gushes of symbolic blood, entirely filmed in a stage with backgrounds painted in, and sexual depictions all most falling into the softcore porn realm. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against graphic sexual encounters which tend to be stimulating, but please, give me a good story and good acting too! This show is short supply of both. Now we also just started watching the original series Spartacus: Blood and Sand and it's not much better.
Do viewers here love this stuff? ![]() So the important tip here is that you can watch Stars for free on Netflix.

Just finished up Spartacus:Blood and Sand on Netflicks. Not as good as Rome, but about half way into the 1st season it grabbed me. Good ending.
![]() spoiler>>>I don't think John Hanna carried the role of Biatiatus so I'm pleased he did not survive.<<< end spoiler. For the second season I heard they have a replacement for Andy Whitman who had to quit due to cancer. Aceshowbiz.com

Several new shows that have grabbed me:
Game of Thrones (HBO)- Into the 2nd episode, this is looking good. The Killing (AMC)- Wow, another AMC winner (following the Walking Dead).

Been watching "Game of Thrones" as well, I'm not usually a fan of movies/shows in the genre (Never seen any Lord of the Rings, etc.), but I'm really liking this one so far.
Also, picked up all 6 episodes of "The Walking Dead" on iTunes last week and watched them in two sittings. Amazing show. I'm fretting when Chuck, Fringe, The Office, and 30 Rock end (or already have ended), as I have no idea what I'm going to watch. I really cannot stand reality TV. |

Did any UK viewers see Derren Brown's "Miracles for Sale". He takes a look at faith healing by training up a man from the street to do it himself then he (the man on the street) puts on a show in Texas. You can still watch it on 4od below. Really worth watching. It's as much about the making of the show as it is about the healers. Interesting how they put it together.

Just the usual for me-
Casualty, Doctor Who, Have I Got News For You and some show where Rhod Gilbert takes on tough jobs.

On the tube, nothing. Same as usual.
On the TV, a ceramic owl, the outside temperature monitor, and a BIG mouse doll, female, a gift from a realtor. (Don't ask, but I like her, in her frock and Spring hat.)

Right now, this is what I'm watching regularly:
1. The Killing (AMC)- outstanding! 2. Masterpiece Theater (PBS): Currently South Riding- period pieces are usually good. Before that Upstairs, Downstairs, and Downton Abbey. 3. Game of Thrones (HB))- Keeping me interested, outstanding cinematography, intrigue, and lots of nude women, and the possibility of a dragon, always a plus. ![]() 4. Modern Family (ABC)- Currently the best comedy I am aware of. Waiting for: 1. Walking Dead (AMC) new season- excited with anticipation. 2. Dexter (Showtime) new season- good, but I think the best is behind it. Season 1&2 possibly the best TV series ever. 3. True Blood (HBO) new season- accepting but disappointed, they've screwed up this story multiple times.

Just finished the 1st season of The Killing- very entertaining. Somehow I got this into my head it was a mini-series and I was going to see the end. Wrong! There's a Season 2. Nothing is resolved!
Anyway, I'll be staying tuned.

What's throwing me for a loop is that according to Wikipedia AMC didn't renew the show for next season until June 13th. So either they intended to end it as a cliff hanger or shot the unsolved ending as an option in the event that the series was picked up for a second season? Either way, the show has been excellent and we can't wait for it to come on again.

![]() And just finished up Season 1 of Game of Thrones on HBO. Wow. This is an outstanding series if the subject matter (medieval fantasy, nudity, graphic violence) suits you. I can't believe they...Spoiler>> killed off Sean Bean. In fact they killed off quite a few <<end spoiler. ![]() And I just found the Premier Episode of Falling Skies on Demand, so I'm gonna give it a chance although it's been pinged by critics as a rehash of recent space invaders movies/tv.

I've just starting watching this and it has taken over my life and I'm watching the fifth series now. I thought that the fourth was the best. Not as keen on the latest series but still good!
