Similar to the huge ongoing thread (https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/824940/)...but solely devoted to the mid-2011 imacs.

It appears the yellow tinge issue has not been resolved by apple. I have already sent one 27" 2011 imac back. The poll will help gauge the issue to see how many 2011 imac owners have a 'good' imac vs those that have a imac with the yellow tint.

Please see below for instructions:

http://tapplox.com/imac-led.html

1. While focussing your eyes on the grey bars at the bottom
2. Resize the height of your browser window so that the grey boxes are almost touching
3. Resize the browser back to full size
4. Repeat steps 1-3 several times. Do the test while you are looking directly at the screen, do not tilt your screen up or down. Align your eyes perpendicular to the screen.

Don't forget to vote and post screen shots if you have a 'yellow' imac.

Thanks

ok, got my replacement.

1st thing is: it's not perfect! there is a slight bit of redness in the middle/top left side but not bad.

But!

I don't have any yellow tinting.

So , my conclusion is that a 'perfect' screen is extremely rare while a less than perfect screen is the norm. Get it replaced until you find one 'acceptable' maybe not 'perfect' and be happy with it. Looks like a keeper so far. Not going through the hassle of another exchange. no pixel issues or anything so far. just need to test everything else and verify all is ok.

Update: harddrive seems certainly louder as the other one had no noise (seagate).

noisy hd = wd1001fals-403aa0 (western digital, big difference in noise)
quiet hd = ST31000528AS (seagate) (can't hear it at all actually)

that didn't work, think im going to have to take a picture of it. Check these out.

You can see the one on the left has a slight reddish tint in the upper left corner and the imac on the right has the yellow tint pretty bad on the bottom half.

I'm gonna keep the one on the left. It's not perfect but it will have to do.

let us know how yours is.

Just set it up...and no yellow!!! very happy! Has a small dust particle towards the righthand side of the screen. Not that noticeable and may try to get it out later.

Will post pics tonight after I merge everything over. = ]

Had a 27@ i5 3.1 which was sent back. Bought a 2.7 as a replacement from an Apple Store and tested in store before leaving. This one is fine. Whites aren't perfect, but then they rarely are.

Hello,

I just received my 2011 27" iMac today. I have never had an iMac before. Would you say that I'm a victim of the yellow tint issue? The photos are taken with my iPhone 3GS.

hard to say with those pics, kinda looks like you have a bit of yellowing on top and bottom but not too bad. If you look at mine, you can clearly see the difference from the top and bottom of the screen.

Great :) I just think there is a bit at the bottom. On the other hand, if it's not too bad...

It's clear on your pictures, indeed. I know my pictures are quite bad. I'm afraid that's all my iPhone 3GS can do :(

it looks pretty good! on my first 27" imac you could really tell the yellow when viewing a web page that has alot of white (this site, yahoo, etc). If you can't see it on those web pages, you are probably good to go!! Enjoy.
