So not a big fan of the huge bookstyle cases that look more like binders or Aples smart cover.

Any recommendations on some cases that are slim and offer just a bit of protection along the sides and back?

STM Skinny

Bought one a couple of days ago, good skinny case covered in nylon rather than plastic or reconstituted leather
Short sides are open not covered ~ face open, auto on and off, landscape typing stand too.

STM still feels like a binder or folder

I don't want anything that flaps over the screen

When I first got my iPad I just bought a simple crystal case from eBay and used that for a bit until my Switcheasy Canvas arrived but now that has broke and I am waiting on a replacement from them I have been using the crystal case again and I like it a lot it keeps the iPad very slim and protects just fine. (Obviously not from drops etc but you can't really protect from them if you want a slim case)
