So when Lion is finally released I plan to do a clean install on an SSD I just bought. Why a clean install you ask? With OS releases I like to start over and get rid of a lot of the crap that builds up over time.

Now while I'd like a clean install, I'd also like to carry some things across (application settings, preferences, fonts, brushes, apps) while leaving the junk behind. My question is, does anyone know of any great guides and tips of making that transition to an SSD boot drive?

I've heard Migration Assistant does a great job, would this be the best tool for me?

Also, does anyone have any tips on using an SSD exclusively as a boot drive? I've heard for sake of performance it's best to only install apps on it while keeping media and documents on external or other internal drives. Is there anything else I must know?

Any help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
