Interesting, makes me wonder if I should go for the 13"MBA, weight and size of the thing is impressive, and now those very reasonable numbers...

Just as a reference point my MBA 13" with i7 1.8 scored a 5828, with the 32bit version..

I am actually kind of amazed how much higher the i7 is vs. the i5

The average Geekbench score increase from 13" i5 to i7 is essentially reflective of the difference in maximum turbo clock speed. It's actually not that surprising.

Make sure you're making proper comparisons like 32-bit/64-bit and same Geekbench versions.
