2 completely different products. One is a handheld gaming console, the other is a multimedia tablet. One has a gimmicky 3D display, the other has a 10" 2D display. You're example is poor. I'm pretty sure bread outsells iPhones every day around the world, but you wouldn't draw any meaningful conclusion from that.
while i read this an ad stating "high profile attorneys" was showing here on Mac Rumors. I wonder if this is all some kind of attorney conspiracy to get themselves hired. 🙄

Well now you know why Apple makes all the cash and has the highest selling phones.
I am just saying how things come across my side of the pond, in America things might be different attitudes but in the UK people like to show off and flaunt what they have and status and being assumed of as wealthy is a massive reason why people buy Apple products in the UK.
In the UK if you shop at certain stores you are sneered at, buy your food from Aldi, Netto, Lidl or Asda you will be thought of as a chav/pikey (trailer trash in your country) but buy at Waitrose you will be thought of as wealthy which is why Waitrose profits are at an all time record high, go to Poundland you will be thought of as a benefit claimant, shop at Primark you will be laughed at and shame cast upon you so people like to make big fashion statements and wealth statements by buying Apple phones and tablet computers so they are considered wealthy by people in the streets.
There is an extreme hate in the UK for the poor and the jobless, people like to look wealthy which is one of the big reasons Apple does so well
It's not just look from the outside, i'm talking about the whole design, internal and external, hardware and software.
I buy Apple equipment because of the amazing quality of the products but I do not deny that there is a religious cult like following of Apple by large numbers, Apple is almost a kind of peaceful non religious Al Qaeda, I am not comparing Jobs with Osama but in the way that they could control and unite their followers I guess there was a comparison.
They couldn't, or otherwise every Apple customer would have a mobileMe subscription 😉
A small number of people buy apple stuff because it's apple no mater what the product is.
Most buy it because it suits them, and some of them are (or better said, were) prepared to pay a little more for the fact it is Apple. That is not the case anymore in most of their product lines.
I'm not prepared to pay more because a product has an Apple logo. I just think, and am willing to put my money behind it, that for example in laptops, the unibody enclosure is worth an extra payment. Or the trackpad. or something else. It has nothing to do with Apple as a company, cult or whatever. I just reserve the right to choose what i want, and will react to any comment stating that I do that because of what other people think. I drive a Dacia for christ's sake.
I am 45, have owned Apple products for over 20 years, I buy Apple because it is Apple as they have never let me down in all the time I have bought Apple stuff but certainly teenagers and early 20's student types by and large get Apple products as a status symbol and a statement of supposed wealth, us old time hardcores don't buy for status reasons but the youth of today certainly do in the UK anyway.

Because Apple is great and Uncle Steve is our leader.
These are the views of many on this forum. Most of the real fanboys feel this way.
And next year when the 7" iPad is released it will be the perfect size for a tablet just because Apple made it.
I hope and expect Apple will never take the 7" route, if anything they should make iPad's bigger, 11-12" in size, I would certainly buy that in a heartbeat

This is nothing to do with competition anymore; Samsung does not have any own design ideas to compete with Apple, they just simply copy all and that make me think about this company in low quality terms.
I am not Apple fanboy but what Samsung does is rather low standard of business etiquette.
samsung should just say, "oh you know what, it does kind of look like an iPad, hmm so do our TVs and digital picture frames that we've been making for a while now"
apple cloned the notebook design because its macbook has a screen, keyboard, speakers, cpu, and etc....

But for an iPad 2 to sell tens of millions (2 million in the UK alone apparently) at a large price in a deep economic crisis is a hell of an achievement, it is about 3 times the price of Kinect and on top of that X Box has been going on for many years (XBox/XBox360) whereas this was only the 2nd iPad so Microsoft had a bigger starting base to sell Kinect into

Again you are comparing something that costs around £90 with something that costs in the region of £500 for a decent model
At a time when tens of millions are losing their jobs in the civilised world something that costs 1/5th the cost of an iPad is going to out sell the iPad

I actually was set to buy a new laptop, but I don't really have the money and the more I think about it the more it's a bit pointless, but when I saw this story the other day I felt utterly disgusted with Apple and will not buy a new computer from them.
I am also even more disgusted with the judge's passing these bans, Apple has to be paying them some serious back handers or the judge seriously thick to state a 7" tablet looks the same and can be confused with a 9" one! I'm sure any women would tell you the difference with that in penis size!!!
So I have just concluded Apple as a whole has now just become totally obsessed with profit and being number one in the tablet market, it's all down to spite, it's jealous it will NEVER be number one in computers so will force it's way to the top in another market.

Please set up a business, ideally one selling a product you designed, when you do please come back to me with the exact details so that I can make a carbon copy of the design and sell it cheaper than you are selling yours, I will not bother innovating I will just steal your designs and make money off of it, I trust you will not complain when I do given your attitude in this thread 😉
WRONG! the 3DS lost sales due to it's over price, it's severe lack of launch games, it's ability to give people headaches and make them sick, and the fact 6 year olds cannot use it. Why don't you compare the Nintendo DS to the original iPad? Go on, see who's figures are bigger then...

Indeed. Amazing range of use outside the narrow scope of laid-back gaming too. Cant be long until we see this implemented in pc:s too. I can see my self flicking and scrolling air. Would probably work quite well with the W8-Metro UI too. Just point and click in the air.
carbon copy? how is that possible? they don't even run the same OS (if you think Samsung Touchwiz tiles look anything like iOS's static icon grid please jump off a cliff)
