Apps_Codekeeper_JetpackJoyride_Redeem-150x183.png

Apple is giving away free redemption codes for the excellent Jetpack Joyride game via its App Store Facebook page. Simply head to Facebook.com/AppStore and follow the appropriate directions to receive a redemption code.

Apple rolled out revamped App Store pages on Facebook last year with searching and sharing tools, though this is the first time Apple has actually given away an App to Facebook users, according to sister-site TouchArcade:
It's the first of a new promotion process courtesy of Apple, and I can't wait to see what else they end up giving away for free. Now, I've got no idea either how long this promotion is going to last, when it's going to rotate to something else, and how many promo codes there are to give away...

Seriously, we love Jetpack Joyride and there is absolutely no reason to not take advantage of this offer. Also, it seems you can even generate a code if you already own the game, and then give that code to someone else.
Jetpack Joyride for iPhone is normally $0.99 on the App Store.

Sweet, thanks for the heads up. I played it on an iPad once. It seemed like a good time killer. I'm downloading it on my iPhone now.

Not a FB user, so no free app for me....

Me either. When I get bummed about not getting the free app, I remind myself how great I feel after kicking the Facebook habit and deleting my account entirely. Going on two months Facebook free!

sounds like a pretty good deal (for Apple). they hoover up all your personal data in return for a 99c game you'll never play.

Is it possible for other people, companies, or developers to offer free app codes in the app store?

Seems a bit sleazy if Apple is doing it and nobody else can.

How's this work? I wrote "trick or treat" on their wall, and nothing happened. Does the code get emailed or sent vi Facebook message?

No, I finally figured it out. You have to go to their wall from a desktop computer. It did not work for me on my iPhone either.

This is one of those rare times that I hate not being on Facebook. A 99¢ app is not what I would price my privacy at.

Can you leave a review after downloading the game with these codes, or is it the same as developer promo codes/gifted items where iTunes doesn't let you?

Did it fine when I accessed using a desktop - but as my computer with iTunes died, thank goodness for PC Free iOS 5, so thank goodness a Redeem code is in the fine print that does work on App Store accessed through iOS

Nice game.

Yep, I'm among the non-FB disenfranchised.

But I'd rather keep my privacy (or what little there is left of it) than get a CHF1.00 game for 'free'.

You get to choose what information you put on Facebook ...

Sort of cool, but Apple's forays into social media always strike me as a little strange. I wonder how this developer got the honor of being featured on the page.
