Just two days after seeding the first beta of iOS 5.0.1 to developers, Apple has already pushed out a second version for testing.

The new version, known as build 9A404, comes as Apple is working quickly to deploy the update to address battery life issues and bring several other enhancements to devices running iOS 5. The latest build is available as an over-the-air update for those with the first beta of iOS 5.0.1 installed on their devices.

I think beta 2 only adds some sort of support for cache dumping, right? Feel like I read that somewhere.

I just finished pulling it OTA, for some reason the links in the developer center are not working yet, phones updating right now, so I imagine it'll be done in a few minutes.

At this rate we'll be seeing the update pretty soon!

I imagine since this is to correct an issue that affects the entire device (vs. just a minor fix in a specific app/condition or an enhancement), they'll have this on the super-fast-track. Battery life has always been a major selling point with iPhones, so I'm sure Apple doesn't want that positive attribute tainted too much.

2 minutes remaining on my OTA update. I was rather surprised to see the 800 MB size, but that suggests that they're fixing a lot of broken stuff on the 4S? I hope so! :)

Mine just finished and reset. Only change I notice on mine (non performance wise) is a change from carrier info from Sprint 11.1 to Sprint 11.3, so maybe they updated something for Sprint and our sucky speeds will improve (haha, right).

That's part of 5.0.1 in general, not specifically Beta 2. It gives devs a few more options to protect files that iOS 5 is aggressive at clearing out when low on space.
