Intel's Mobile Ivy Bridge Lineup

Last week we saw Intel's desktop slides leaked out for Ivy Bridge. VR-Zone is here this week with the mobile slides. There are no 35W quad cores in the current listing. It also looks like the lower voltage lines are streamlined to fewer SKUs under a single Ultra (ULV) name with one Core i5 and Core i7 model in each.

AMD's HD 7000M line should show up this month in HP notebooks. The HD 7470M, 7670M, and 7690M are what are listed. I am expecting these to be in 28nm but there are older slides showing Llano based notebooks paired with "HD 7000M" discrete soltutions that are actually 40nm rebranded HD 6000M chips.

Still no new word from AMD's event today otherwise.

Not all 28nm GPUs are going to be GCN. Like VLIW-4 for the HD 6000 generation, it was reserved for the desktop HD 6900 series cards, GCN is reserved for the high end HD 7900 line.

If the ASUS X53TK-SX058V Llano notebook mentioned in the previous link has asymmetrical CrossFire with the discrete HD 7670M GPU, then the discrete GPU is a HD 6000M based one. There is even talk that nVidia's first line of 28nm GPUs are going to be Fermi based ones to test out the new process node.

It is a mess.

There's the entire mobile Ivy Bridge lineup at launch. The lack of a 35W quad core part really makes me question whether or not the 13" MBP will still be here next refresh.

They can be refreshed with the replacements for the current processor lineup. These platforms barely last over a year as it is. There is the initial launch and Intel pushes out slightly higher clocked parts before the next line up takes over. Intel might have a 35W quad core for that second run.

What do you mean by that?

AMD's event was announced but there was no new news yesterday. It might be a simple press event and it is under NDA for now.

I was hoping for a properly binned 35W quad core instead of one programmed into a thermal profile. Though we still do not know what that will do to the clock speeds or pricing.
