RadioShack today informed MacRumors that it will be launching a $30 discount program for AT&T iPhone 4S and iPhone 4 models on Sunday, bringing pricing down to $69.99/$169.99/$269.99/$369.99 after the instant savings. The sale will run through Saturday, December 17th.

In addition, trade-in credits of up to $200 for customers' used iPhones can bring the price down even further and in some cases leave users with additional store credit to spend.
Starting Sunday, Dec. 11, customers in the market for AT&T's iPhone 4 or iPhone 4S can get a great deal when they take advantage of RadioShack's $30 instant savings paired with the company's Trade & Save program, which will guarantee $100 to as much as $200 off when they trade in their eligible iPhone 3GS or iPhone 4. Furthermore, those who need a little more memory and wish to purchase an iPhone 4S (32/64GB) may pay as little as $69.99 for the iconic device with a qualifying 2-year plan/data pack and eligible trade-in.
As usual, the prices require a 2-year contract, activation fee and potential early termination fees related to existing contracts. The maximum $200 trade-in is awarded for fully-functional, "cosmetically excellent" iPhone 4 units in 16 GB and 32 GB capacities when the charger is included with the trade-in.

RadioShack also offers AppleCare+ as an optional add-on at the time of purchase.

Which can be sold for $400 on the Craigslist in 10 minutes.

Although I agree that the $200 trade-in offer isn't much, the notion of getting twice the price in 10 minutes is not realistic. I've had a 32 GB listed for $400 a few days and it's looking like the $300 price point is more realistic for a 32 GB. A 16 GB is even less.

Not meant to hijack this thread, but starting tomorrow Target will have the 16gb 4S on sale for $175. I much rather shop at Target than Radio Shack.

Don't forget Target's additional 5% when using their store card. I have one, and whenever I buy something I use their card then do the payment right afterwards at the customer service desk.

So say I have up until the 14th to return my iPhone 4S at the Apple Store for no restocking fee. How long does it usually take for AT&T to restore back the upgrade eligibility? Cuz I'd like to take this Radioshack offer and get a 32GB!

Agreed; however, you can easily get $400 if you jailbreak and unlock first. Just don't do the trade-in and sell instead on CL or ebay jailbroken and unlocked (assuming you didn't update to the latest baseband).

That price column is extremely misleading. Those are the AT&T prices for the few customers to whom they will offer a *full* 'discount' upgrade - in practice AT&T is offering almost no-one a full discount (why should they? iPhones are always blockbusters, right? easy profits....). Most of us will be paying at least $200 to $300 more, on top of those $199, $299 etc. figures.

So who will they offer a full discount to?

What are you talking about? If you're up for an upgrade, you pay AT&T $199 for a 16gb iPhone 4s. That is available to everyone who is eligible. I'm eligible every year, the other two members of my family plan, every 18 months.

First you have to be eligible of the discount price from ATT then you can take advantage of the RS discounts. I kinda assumed that.

And a new customer would get the discount because they're gonna sign a new contract.

You only can't get the discount if you are in no man's land in your ATT contract. But you probably know that. So I wouldn't call it misleading.

Depends on where you live. I've sold 3 3GS on CL, all for $150-$250 depending on the condition.

After I got my 4S I sold my locked, unjailbroken 16GB 3GS for $250 within 12 hours of posting my add. It helped that it was in perfect condition and only a few months old, but iPhones sell well on CL here.

When I got my iPhone 4 last year, I sold my 16 GB 3G for $250 on CL without being unlocked or jail broken. I just got my 4s last week and sold my mint 32 GB iPhone 4 for $300 yesterday as is since it was on the latest OS and baseband. That is the average price they are currently going for on eBay and on here. I did see unlocked and jail broken 32 GB 4 going for over $400 on eBay. On the Dallas CL, I'm see the same ads being renewed often which gives me the indication that they are not selling at the higher price.

Not sure how this works but those Kiosks in Target are owned by Radio Shack...I think they are called Bullseye Moble. If what you are saying is true and you could weasel out of the Activation fee (usually pretty easy to schmooz a CSR) that would put the phone at $166.25 w/the TargetCard. Dont recall ever seeing an iPhone base model that cheap.

When I was in Target last week the rep had zero in stock and had only seen two since launch. I'm guessing you're going to be waiting a bit on these...

If you buy the phone at Target you are purchasing it from RadioShack as they own the kiosks in Target.

They are not doing it in PR even though Radio Shack stores are nationwide... I wanted to jump to a 4s with this for the price but il just wait until my 3GS is obsolete to move to another iPhone in the future for the regular price
