Oh nice. I had no idea they had bumped the software in beta to 5.0. Thanks for the heads up.

Just got a new 4s today, it came with 5.0.1 ( for those wondering, it's build 9A405)
So it's doubtful, as the story suggests, that the new launch market phones would be shipping with 5.0.0, with a necessary upgrade Last edited by discuit; Dec 15, 2011 at 02:19 PM. |

Man, I hope so. AirPlay is also crappy when going from 4S to a wireless Express. I'm hoping the 5.0.1 update fixes this.

Compared to the CDMA iPhone under iOS 4.x, this is nothing.

Yep, i've got a new iPhone also with 5.0.1 preinstalled. It's brand new phone build in week 50 (12/12 - 12/18)! It's a replacement for an old one, that had the issues with a signal loss, that appeared after the update from 5.0 to 5.0.1. Brand new is 9A405, and doesn't have the issues, no update popped up. Maybe a fix for the old phones having the issues? Anyone can confirm that?

Well if you restore from new this is installed on your phone. Probably something so minor it didn't warrant a .02 release. I'm guessing this will be rolled into the next release and it will be a non-issue.

I was really hoping for a low-bandwidth steaming option for iTune movies to Apple TV. When my internet is in heavy use, it's impossible to rent anything from iTunes, yet Netflix is fine. Was just hoping for that option... not yet I guess. :-)

Considering the large number of ATV owners who have been having network problems, I think it's more lots of users upgrading in blind hope it fixes their problems; rather than upgrading for the sake of it.

With the ATV2 update, Apple has once again been deceptively vague as to what they fixed.
So has anyone noticed what stability and bug fixes Apple made in the new update? |

also posted in the hacks section but what baseband is your 5.0.1?
mine is 1.0.14. Was wondering if that was normal. |

I'm getting it... do I need it? Who knows. Whatever it breaks will hopefully be resolved with the next iOS update. Life goes on.

Go to iTunes on your computer and look for movie trailers...They have some at 1080p that will play but not that smooth. I have a feeling it's the A5 that's making it choppy, hopefully there will be an update that will get it to play 1080p smoothly. ATV 3 let's hope! Bye Bye Blu-Ray!

iOS 5.01 (9A406) includes a 4S baseband of 1.0.14 Neither one of these fixes T-mobile USA service on my factory unlocked iPhone 4S. I've spoken to senior tech advisers at Apple who have only thrown up their hands and suggested that I wait for iOS 5.1, which updates the 4S baseband to 1.2.01+. |

So, is the 406 build of iOS 5.0.1 only for iPhone 4S models specifically (and not for iPhone 4 and/or any other models)?
There's some talk that the new build might be related to this: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4148. On the other hand, it seems that there's also some talk that there is, or at least was, an actual iOS 5.0.2 version that was (at least momentarily) made available to some recently: http://discussions.apple.com/message/17007866#17007866. |

Release-notes?
Many a professional software source would accompany a new release with release-notes explaining what changed (and sometimes why) - but not Apple: these amateurs hail the notion of mushroom management and leaves customers guessing - deplorable
