sounds like his mom is a punk and so is he. real A class losers and scumbags. i hope the read this thread. here's a big F U :D.

You're lucky you're not my kid this would have been handled really quickly, get your parents involved no need to do it on your own.

Yeah. I should've handled this earlier on. Maybe parents will need to get involved if I decide to take a more severe legal action.

Yes, I am 15.

I think you probably realize this, but Apple doesn't sell prototypes. This belongs to them. It's stolen merchandise. Involve the police or authorities and Apple may claim it. However it's probably worth the risk as you did nothing wrong.

You really need to get your parents involved at this point. Have them contact the police.

I purchased a phone advertised as a broken water damaged iPhone. I received a prototype. I did nothing illegal. If Apple wants to get it back, then I will gladly return it, but as of now they don't seem too interested.

It this really a matter to go to the police for?

Ok. Fair enough. Maybe not the whole thread. Just from the part where you mailed parts of a suposed prototype iPhone to a complete stranger.

Yes... I agree :p

So out of curiosity what exactly are this Carl Frega guy's "credentials"? The OP kept mentioning him as if he is well-known in the Apple community and that being so well-known implied he was "safe" to do business with. I assumed it would be like, in the automotive world, shipping some car parts off to say, Chip Foose, and assuming it was safe because it's Chip-friggin-Foose.

I'd never heard of Frega but then again I'm not really techy or involved in the Apple "community" at all other than on here - so it certainly raised no red flags in my mind.

So it turns out this Carl Frega isn't some widely-respected Apple guy but instead just some guy who looks like a tool routinely scams people on various forums? Ouch.

He had a Macbook prototype with built in 3G, so I guess that makes his some kind of prototype guru?

Dude you're 15?! I'm 18 and I would have had my parents involved at the very least right from the start. No need for you to tackle this on your own man.

Prototypes are stolen. There is no other way to get them. He deals in stolen merchandise. Not exactly a reputable source.

I'm wondering if this phone is even a real prototype. I figure by now if it was real, this kid would have heard from someone at Apple, or at least one of their lawyers.

The reason I have not been contacted by Apple or their lawyers is because this device has gotten NO publicity compared to Frega's widely publicized MacBook

ANYHOW. This problem may finally come to an end. After an interesting day back and forth on a Raleigh NC forum (The Wolf Web), I received a phone call from an unknown number... It happened to be Carl Frega. We talked on the phone and it appeared that he thought I was someone else, who had gotten obsessed with finding the prototype despite having NO connection to me, in fact he has posted in this thread earlier. We talked about it and apparently the posts on the Wolf Web forum cleared things up so he called me and let me know that he didn't have the address to my house. The call went well and he said that he would ship it out tonight possibly through fedex if he could.

Here's hoping that this all comes to an end...:apple:

I may have solved this already. I like to think that I'm independent... even though I'm probably very young and immature.

And though I made a fool out of myself he would've never of found that forum without me :)

According to Frega "It is all packaged up and ready to be sent" which I assume means that it is fixed. At this point I just want a tracking number...

Why didn't you directly ask him, Carl, Is my motherboard fixed?
When you receive it, what are your goals?
To get it running?
To wait for apple to raid your house:)))
Or What?

Don't ask him to fix it !!!!!!!!!

you might be responded with a "oh no, I didn't fix it, give me a month.."
and there you go trying to find him again

Sounds strange how he disappears and then reappears and according to other sites he does that often. Anyway as long as you get your mobo back. At least you've learnt a lesson never, ever, EVER send something to someone you don't know unless you are 110% sure they are trustworthy.

I just want it back. This is why I didn't ask him to fix it.
