I think when they throttle you, they essentially remove your 3G speeds and knock you back down to 2G. That's what T-Mobile does anyway. Then again, 0.09 MBPS is pretty much "blazing fast" on Sprint. :D I wonder what Sprint throttles would look like? 14.4 kbps? lol

It's actually slower than 2G/EDGE. The throttle speed on T-Mobile is 60kbps, which is much slower than being unthrottled on EDGE. Whenever I used EDGE, I typically got speeds in the 120-180kbps range.

But I guess that depends on whether T-Mobile/AT&T consider EDGE 2G, 2.5G, or 3G.

Wait wait wait. 3G can go that fast? I get 217ms 0.32Mbps Download and 0.47Mbps Upload with Sprint. I'm paying $80 a month for this!

Yes... we can get these speeds if carriers didn't practice traffic shaping nor overcharged their infrastructure with more customers they can support.

Here in Brazil, I can get >2mbps download and >1.5mbps upload when my carrier does not apply any traffic shaping (before I reach my 300MB of traffic quota).

Cannot wait from Portland, Oregon.

Already have a unlocked iPhone 4S, waiting for the contract with ATT to be over!!!

Heck yeah man! Portland, Oregon here too. Would love to activate my iPhone 3GS on T-Mobile. Although I don't think HSPA+ 42 is here yet... =\

[Edit]: 8Mbps down? That can't be right. That's more than DOUBLE my home Wi-Fi speed. You guys must be cheating somehow! IGNORANCE IS BLISS! DX

For what it's worth, yeah, Sprint's pretty behind the 8-ball with 3G speeds. While Verizon's certainly faster with CDMA, consider that AT&T is the best over 3G right now thanks to HSPA+ which gives people those high speeds you see. (HSPA+ is 3.5G if you consider, but it's not real 4G yet.)

True 4G won't be working until LTE is supported by both the carriers and the devices too. So, here's hoping the i5 comes out with LTE support. That should fix the Sprint data speed issues, that is, if there's any customers left...

I get 7-9Mbps download speeds on AT&T 3G (faux 4G) all the time, but the ping time in the screen grab is BS for 3G.
55ms ping response screams WiFi.
The best ping response over 3G I've ever seen is 135ms.

I'll gladly trade with you - I get consistent 100ms pings in DC but rates anywhere from .16MB to 1.9MB on AT&T, with speeds averaging 1mbit on my tower near work.

If they do this in Dallas, I'll pay my ETF and make them unlock my 4S in a heartbeat. (Will they do this, or will I have to sell and re-buy? No Jailbreaking)

AT&T will not unlock any iPhone for any reason.

True. AT&T will unlock any phone, except iPhone. They unlock any android, windows, blackberry and all dumb phones. You just have to call them to get the code. I think you have to be a customer in good standing for at least 60 days.

3G is not working for me here in Boston, but this is promising for the future. I thought I would be on EDGE forever, maybe not if T-Mobile reframes their entire network. :)

My wife is on tmo with a 3gs here in Kirkland, WA (Seattle Metro). When I get home 2 hours or so, I will see if I can get her phone to pick up 3g. Stay tuned folks :)

$109.98 for all four of my family members to get data, unlimited texting, and more minutes than we get right now with Verizon. Damn, that would save us more than $100. Too bad we just signed a new contract with Verizon :(

This kills me. If I have no contract, have paid off my phone and I can buy an unlocked version of the exact same phone directly from Apple, what's their legal ground now?

Their ground, whther legal or not, is that they helped you buy that iPhone you are holding in your hand with like a $400 subsidy...therefore, you are stuck with them...if you didnt want that, you shouldnt have let them help you buy that iPhone yuo are holding.

Yes it sucks that AT&T will not unlock even after your term is over.
That is why if T-Mobile can get their 3G service online for iPhone frequencies, I will buy an unlocked iPhone from Apple and leave AT&T.
$100 a month for 1 line is highway robbery.

Yea, the best ping I have seen on 3G was 97ms and the fastest download I have seen is 11 Mbps on HSPA+
