Anyone know of a good free MKV to DV convert??

Anyone know of a good MKV to DV file convert. I would like a free one if possible. I am just looking to edit a home movie DVD. And actually if anyone know of a DVD to DV ripper that would be even better. These are just home movies that where converted from VHS to DVD and now I would like to edit them in iMovie or Final Cut. Thanks

The latest beta of MPEG Streamclip can do .mkv to DV transcoding.
But you can also use MPEG Streamclip to transcode a video DVD to DV, but you need the QuickTime MPEG-2 Playback Component (19.99 USD) for that.

Get footage from a video DVD into an editing application

Video: Ripping a video DVD (.mp4, 28s, 2.8MB)

Video: Transcoding ripped video to a format iMovie understands (.mp4, 75s, 7MB)

I assume ffmpegx could do that, with some fiddling.
