Apple Introduces 'The New iPad' with Retina Display, A5X Chip, LTE, 5MP Rear Camera

From what I'm reading thus far I don't know if it will be worth the upgrade, so I may skip this release and hold off for the next.

Superb upgrade, pretty much everything I wanted (and that was reasonable to expect). The 5Mp camera using iPhone 4S tech is fine by me, big enough to go native at iPad resolution and, in theory at least, if the sensor is the same size might actually get better lower light performance. Upgrade SOC (quad core graphics always made the most sense) and, of course, the Retina display.

Can I just ask, anyone complaining about this, what else did you expect that's caused you to feel let down?

I am pretty impressed with what has been announced so far and will be interesting to see if it is indeed twice as fast as a tegra 3.

Quad core graphics a souped up dual core cpu is more than enough in my opinion.

So Apple promises more saturated colors. Oh oh, What are all the loyalist who hate the saturated colors of superamoled gonna say now. Windows 8 tablets this year will be the ones to offer a real full OS experience. It's not even close. But I'm sure a lot of kids will still want one. Leave the real tablets for the adults.

people say this every once and awhile and i just must know what websites do you visit so often that have flash?

Our workplace used to be the most windows centric pro-Microsoft place you could possibly imagine and now everyone walks around with iPhones and iPads and there's more than a few Macbook Pros, iMacs and Mac Minis around.

I can see some people not being super happy with this update but it seems nice to me. My workplace iPad will do nicely since my more pressing concern is an actual Mac instead of yet another IoS toy.

Im a New Zealander living in Poland, the only way I can watch sports from home is by flash streaming. If there was another option i would use it but there isnt.

I guess the logic camera wise is that you don't really need HD for FaceTime conversations. You've got something better quality for pictures and kitten videos on the back.

Haha, you can almost watch two Cinemascope (2.35:1) movies stacked on that screen. And still have room to print the titles in a vertical strip on the side. Geez. How's that for a HandBrake preset?

"the new iPad" doesn't roll off the toying well..it will forever be known as iPad 3 to me. I can see more people calling it iPad 3 than the new iPad. Anyways..
It loaded with brand new goodies, can't wait to see it at my doorstep.

I was about to get an iPad 3, but as it doesn't have 3D capabilities, I think i'll wait a bit longer.

The only "disappointment" was the price drop on the iPad2, they should have dropped it $200 and that would have really destroyed the competition. They could afford to not really make any margin on them now. Otherwise iPad3 (new iPad I guess) looks great.

I was thinking yesterday if they stall on the Retina display and don't do it on the ipad3 that this would have been an epic disappointment lol
