I totally agree and only have Macs without CD drives. However I was at a concert a few days ago and loved the opening band and bought their CD. Only after I purchased it did I realize what I was doing when the clerk told me that all their music was available for download on iTunes and Amazon. Oh well...at least I keep an old PC around for ripping CDs.
Also, I'd buy a new 27" iMac ASAP if they came out with anti-reflective / anti-glare screens. I know a lot of other people would too.
Who cares, this is a family computer give me a Mac pro with 32 gb ram
So everyone is of the opinion they'll retain the same form factor/design if there's indeed a June launch for updated iMacs?
I like my Macbook Pro. But I sold my 2011 iMac and built my own PC with the money I got from it. It is a lot more powerful, and upgradeable, as desktop computers should be. I feel like the iMac is a large notebook, and will continue that way. Before all the haters vote this down, think about this in regards to the iMac: The hard drive is not user replaceable, and besides the RAM, nothing is replaceable or upgradeable. So, here is my huge "no thanks" to Apple and the iMac.
That is the limitation of the all-in-one design, not just the iMac. Apple is not the only one who makes all-in-one desktops. So that argument could really be applied to an HP or Dell all-in-one. All-in-one's are not supposed to be easily upgradable, towers are. So you are comparing two very unlike terms. Considering multiple companies make all-in-one desktops, I do not know why you felt like singling out Apple.
Maybe because Apple has neglected their tower Mac Pro, focusing on iMac's, MacBook Pro's and iDevices while the other companies you have mentioned have not? Not meant to be sarcastic.
Not true! Take a look at the HP Z1...

Give me my Mac Pro update. I made my career working on Macintosh workstations. These little i devices are fun and very useful, but we won't be able to buy them without the job the Mac workstations we use to make a paychecks!
And exactly what is wrong with the ones out now?
As a former iMac user, I agree. I may have had a lemon but my iMac was a big time heat magnet. Over time, it gathered so much dust inside that the logic board began to fail, with symptoms like graphic glitches and random freeze or kernel panic.I like my Macbook Pro. That thing looks really well designed! The insides are exceptionally clean from the look of the pictures. I'm honestly really impressed. (especially considering it's HP) I'll bet Apple could do something similar as far as easy snap off design goes. Perhaps an iMac Pro or something alongside the consumer iMacs. Still, those who are yearning for a pro probably don't want an integrated screen.
Well, I don't want to re-hash the whole argument that has raged on in previous threads, but I guess you've never tried to export a 3D layer-heavy comp out of After Effects while also working in Final Cut on a MacBook Pro. Processor power can't handle it as well as a tower.
<soapbox>I'm tired of iPeople thinking we don't need towers and other computers with fast processors just because THEY don't need them. I can give a rat's a$$ for the population that doesn't include me "and a few 100 other people" (kiljoy616) who think they're elitist and Apple should only serve THEM. Until our industry (video production) comes up with a standard for delivery AS A WHOLE we need everything a tower can give. That includes an ODD. I know I can get an external if the MBP redesign happens like everyone says it might, but that's just one more piece of equipment I gotta lug around to do my work.
Wait, OK, so maybe the ODD is on the bottom of my list, but please keep the Ethernet connection!</soapbox>
Cheers!
Apple should drop the disc drives. Steve would have.

Anti-reflective glass would be great... I was watching an iTunes rental on my iMac last night and my living room appeared in every other shot.
