Hello All,

I just picked up a Mac Pro on eBay and am planning on selling my G5 Quad to cover some of my costs. What price do you think I should ask for my Quad? Here's the specs:

16GB RAM
nVidia GeForce 7800GTX (512MB)
1TB 7200RPM HDD
Dual Booting Leopard and Tiger
Fully functional with only light scratches on the outside.

Thanks everyone.

is that a 7800GTX 512mb or a fx4500?

if its a 7800 GTX, ill buy it of you :D

even better, if its a 7800 GTX 512, how about dumping that rom for the rest of us before flogging it off into obscurity and disappearing forever.

I have ROMs for all kinds of cards. X1900, 7800GTX256 (only works in Tiger), 7800GTX512. Write a PM!

I payed the equivalent to $265 for a G5 (not the damaged one I just uploaded in the "what did you buy"-thread) with half the power of this one, so I don't think something close to $500 would be unfair.

To be honest, the lowest I'd take is around $550 (plus shipping). I think that's pretty fair since I put paid $200 on RAM, $80 on a 1TB 7200RPM HDD, and $250 on my GPU. If anyone is interested, let me know. If not, I'll probably throw it on eBay and see what happens.

I don't understand why you asked for price suggestions when you already have a price in mind? Or did you want to know if you could ask for more than your minimum (being 550)?

I don't think $550 plus shipping is very realistic. No matter how much money you put into it. You can easily get a Xeon 1,1 for that.

Depends on the area, here in Pittsburgh, where I spent a decent amount of time, that would probably go for 400-500 bucks. But down in Tallahassee FL where I also spend alot of time. You would maybe get 200 for it.

If you post it on eBay, you'll easily get $550+ for it since you've got the ultimate setup. If its a local sale, then thats a totally different ballgame as prices very so much based on location. Last summer I moved a dual 2.0GHz G5 with 3GB of RAM and stock GeForce 5200 for $300 without a problem on craigslist. There just aren't that many Macs that show up for sale here. That would never happen in say, San Francisco.

The main reason I was double checking on here is I've seen people trying to sell their quad g5's with considerably lower stats for way more than 500...i didn't want to sell it for around 500 just to find out I could have gotten more. Ill probably throw it on eBay and see what happens. Thanks again everyone.

This one is a quad core but badly advertised.

If I was selling it I would sell the ram separate and the 1TB hdd

There's there's a huge difference between a Single 2.0 G5 and a 2.5GHz G5 Quad.

i would not touch a single PM G5, onLy dual or pref DC.
For what it's worth, I sold my quad a bit over a year ago and it was fully specked out. Got $900 plus post for it. So I'd say 5 would be easy.

i think you've put too much money into the machine to get any profit out of it :(

This is where you have to give the machine a new purpose when you have put so much cash into it - run it as a server, if only as a file server or for backup.

It all depends on what you use your Mac for, I have a Quad with 8gig of ram in it and as well as a iMac (intel) but I would never sell my PowerMac as it can thrash this iMac especially with video editing. Besides my PowerMac as a nice 30" display compared to the 21" iMac.

Send me an email through here. I'm very interested in both the 7800 GTX and some of the ram, if its official. I'd be willing to do cash plus a 7800 GT for the GTX. Thanks.
