Is this the part of the thread where we ask our conservative friends to address their party's actions and they come in and try to change the topic and dance around the issue without directly addressing it?

Seems like they're trying to not offend anybody from what I can tell from that statement.

No- they don't want anything regarding homosexuality discussed. They're trying to sweep it under the rug.

I'm just going off that quote, which appears to me they are being politically correct and keeping sexual orientation (which is pretty irrelevant to anything) out of the school in order to avoid conflict between the values of the community, teachers, and students.

That's just my interpretation. And I think that's a bad way of doing things, because being politically correct to avoid conflict avoids the central issue and allows the conflict to brood instead of be resolved.

Forbidding any discussion of sexuality and threatening people with jail time is hardly being politically correct.

I equate calling it political correctness to those denying there's racism in the US.

I've explained what the issue here is. If you choose to ignore it, be my guest.

Its an issue regardless of Leighs LGBT orientation of discussion. Laws like this force ignorance on Children and Teenagers. Even straight people need to talk about sexuality...

Really? Most people I know in real life and online care and most of them are straight people. How can you not care about people's rights?

It amazes me how (generally Republican) lawmakers go out of their way to create laws that do nothing more than oppress free speech, civil rights, equal pay. Conservative voters eat it up and crow about how we are asking for "Special Rights", or cry about the "Gay Agenda" being forced on their oh so innocent children.

Then they turn around call stuff like Universal Healthcare "unconstitutional".

Don't forget straight people, you're the ones who give birth to us.

Lee made an extremely salient point back there.

By banning any discussions in Grades 1-8, children of same-sex couples come under attack from their peers.

This has to be addressed when and where it happens.

Not doing so is just hate, codified.

But they ARE addressing heterosexuality. They clearly are. The bill was quoted on the previous page. Check it out.

You know. Nice try, but fail.

It is a blatant agenda at work.

Nothing more.

Reading comprehension much?

edit: lol I can't read other than in scientific instruction concerning human reproduction shall be provided in any public school.

why not teach homosexuality in the same manner, I mean not reproduction obviously but about how it's found in over 400 species. I thought it was just like we won't talk about sex at all...my bad...

Why shouldn't relationships be covered early?

Relationships are important. Gay or straight.

Of course they don't. Which is why those of us with less rights than everyone else are fighting for what is right.

How can you talk about human reproduction without talking about how it happens? Please explain this to me. My reading comprehension is just fine. And look at what you just typed "homosexuality". Remember, sexuality can't be discussed.

I added an edit that pretty much says "Sorry I'm wrong" but kept my original post intact so you could see I'm wrong, but instead of reading and being like "thanks for saying sorry" you jumble the pre-edit and post-edit up and tell me I'm contradicting myself. So I'll say it again reading comprehension much?
