-15" 2012 MBP

- 2880x1800 !IPS! Screen with the Anti-Reflective Glass that is rumored for the iMac!!😀

- Ethernet port (opposite of the magsafe charger)
- 1 Thunderbolt Port (2 if no Ethernet so 1 thunderbolt port can always be used for the mythical thunderbolt-Ethernet adapter)

Realistic perfect MBP

- No ODD
- 1680x1050 Anti-Glare (upgrade to 1920x1200)
- 512 SSD
- 8GB of RAM
- USB 3.0 (at least 1 port with 2 more USB 2.0)
- 1 Thunderbolt Port (still hoping they develop the mythical thunderbolt-Ethernet adapter)
- 6-7 hour battery life
- Regular Backlit keyboard
 
I'm kind of sweet on getting a 13" these days, as a compliment to my desktop, so:

13"
higher resolution. Actual usable resolution, not just double pixels HDPI and the same limited screen real estate. I'd like to see 1080, or 1050 in the 13", and doubling that to retina-style would be fine and dandy.

Quad. I think it's doable, and it would be oh so tasty in a package of that size.

Dedicated GPU. Might be getting a little liberal now with my requests, but why not! To be honest, the 4000 might fit the bill for most of the things I'll do on that machine. As long as my flash videos aren't looking like a powerpoint if I decide to hook it up to a TBD, I'll be happy.

Upgradeable memory and hd.

That's pretty much all I need. I'd be happy with an updated chassis that loses the ODD and fw, and has 2 usb3s and 2 usb2s and an sd reader. Having said that, I don't care all that much. I'd just like it to be a bit more useable with more screen real estate, and a couple more physical cores. These machines really are a marvel presently and I'm sure they'll raise the bar even higher this go around.

I hope we start seeing the flurry of rumors this week, so we don't have to keep regurgitating our ideas in these silly threads to keep ourselves entertained and stimulated 😀
 
My perfect MacBook Pro for 2012:

- Redesigned (surprise me!)
- Ultrathin (just like the MacBook Air, but maybe even thinner and lighter)
- Retina display capable of HiDPI (I am eagerly waiting for this)
- Quad-core Ivy Bridge processor (I know an ultra-thin laptop is supposed to have a low TDP processor, but I want power and this is the MacBook Pro of my dreams, not necessarily feasible)
- Dedicated video card (not a must-have for me any more, but nice anyway)
- No optical drive
- SSD instead of HDD (much faster! my next computer will certainly have one)

That's it. Not too much. And, of course, a lower price tag.

Here we go:

1. Thinner design, pretty much like the rumored picture on MR website.

2. no CD drive, and for the extra space, chose between extra battery space, more SSD / HDD, or maybe even second GPU for SLI (i know.)

3. 2x thunderbolt ports

4. SSD as standard option, and possibility to add extra hard drive (more or less like in nr. 2)

5. 3+ USB ports, at least 3 or 4 or more. of course a USB 3.0.

6. Full HD or more resolution for 15"

7. High end Nvidia GPU like Geforce GTX 675M

8. with the release of the new MacBook Pro, i would love to finally get a thunderbolt to pcie x16, so i could add high end desktop GPU through that.

Obviously such a machine would cost much more than the current 13" MBP, but I think Apple are presently missing a product which appeals to users who need (want 😱) power and portability.

Thinner design

That's pretty much it.
 
For me, my perfect MBP (13") would be this:

-Higher resolution display
-Quad-core processor (although the i5 dual core now is plenty for me, but you can't go wrong with more right?)
-8GB RAM
-Dedicated graphics (I want to take up photography and video over the summer and would like to edit video and whatnot, perhaps play a few games as well)
-No ODD (I have an external from when I had a netbook... bad times)
-SSD+HDD combination
-Don't mind the size and weight so it can stay the same (I use a backpack when I'm at university so I can hardly feel it)
-Keep the ethernet (wifi doesn't reach every part of my house so we're wired up in every room, therefore no need for wifi extenders)
-More than 2 USB (USB 3.0), preferably on both sides
-HDMI port so I can connect it to my TV without an adaptor, although I'm saving up for a used thunderbolt display when they are much much cheaper
-The same battery life!

This won't happen but if it does then I will part with the little money I have 😀

Edit: I would love the return of the black macbook, perhaps that can be an optional extra?

-Higher resolution display - At a minimum match the 13inch Air.
-Dedicated GPU (I'll take the best they can reasonably put into the machine. Please don't leave me with only a 4000).
-Retain the ability to upgrade RAM and HD by the consumer.
-Drop the optical drive.
-USB 3
 
I would be happy if they let you choose between AMD and nVidia when customizing.

Also, removing the ODD by default to make room for a second HDD would be nice.
