Do you still buy DVDs if Blu-rays are not available?

I only buy DVD's. Blu-ray is too expensive. A few months ago I bought a Clint Eastwood DVD movie pack with Dirty Harry/Unforgiven/Grand Turino. In the same store the Grand Turino Blu-Ray was more expensive than the DVD pack I bought. I only have a 32" TV. Why waste money when there won't even be that great a difference in quality at that size? I'm sure 5 or 6 years down the line I'll probably buy a massive TV, but by that stage Blu-ray will have been replaced by higher quality digital downloads anyway. Who knows, iTunes may even have a subscription or match service.
 
My bluray player takes too long to boot up and forgets where I left off after stopping a disc, do I don't use it much.

The reason is that you are buying the content (or to be more precise, the rights to view the content). The physical media itself is only worth a few cents.
 
I rent DVDs from Netflix (no streaming). Once I've finished my queue of 110 DVDs, I'll go streaming-only.

I have no desire to own movies/TV or to use Blu-Ray.

My Panasonic does the same... no problems with DVDs.

I buy maybe a dozen DVDs a month (all under £5 on Amazon) , but rarely Blu-rays. For starters, they're more expensive, secondly, my 50 year old eyes can't tell the difference from 10 feet away, and lastly I have friends and family that don't have blu-ray players yet – we like to share.
 
I've bought a few DVDs since getting a Blu-ray player, but most of them are things like older TV programmes that were originally filmed in SD. I don't think I've bought any DVD movies since getting a Blu-ray player, and overall I definitely own more Blu-rays than DVDs. I think I even have more HD DVDs than regular DVDs!
