Hotspot Shield VPN Not Working

I am trying to use hotspot shield on my MacBook. It changes my IP and encrypts my information...but it does unblock any services. I am using OPEN DNS on my network and I have it blocking certain sites. When I try to access one of those sites with hotspot shield, it says open dns blocks this page, please contact your network admin (which is me). I am trying to figure out why it isn't working.

P.S I am having the same problem on my iMac!

I know I could do that! I want it to be able to unblock it (like its supposed to). If it can't unblock it on my own network then it wouldn't be able to unblock it on another network.
