Following yesterday's news that Apple was preparing to begin seeding versions of OS X 10.7.5 to developers, the first of those developer seeds has now been released. This first version arrives as Build 11G15 and asks testers to focus their efforts on the following areas:
- Graphics performance and quality
- Image & Media importing, editing or viewing
- Networking reliability & performance
The build weighs in at 937 MB for the delta version and 1.87 GB for the combo version that can be used to upgrade from any prior version of OS X Lion.

There are no known issues associated with this build, but a timetable for a public release is unknown. Apple has announced that it will be launching OS X Mountain Lion sometime next month, and it is likely looking to release OS X 10.7.5 before that time, although the company has occasionally released maintenance updates for its operating systems even after their successors have launched.

Might be worth looking to see if there are any graphics drivers for unreleased models :) What with the iMac and Mac Mini overdue.

Don't hold your breath on the openGL drivers, it seems that the newer cards have a better implementation but for older cards such as mine, I've been stuck on a a partial 3.x implementation for ages but mostly 2.1.

Here's a list of supported boards.

I can't make heads or tails out of them though. Perhaps someone who knows about these codes would know more :

Does the update fix the default avatar images? Tired of seeing mine pixellated on login.

I hope they fixed the loss of resolution options on some macs.

You talking about how 1440x900 isn't selectable on some MacBook Pros?

It can do 1280x800 or 1680x1050, but 1440x900 was missing. I could select 1440x852 (wtf?), but it would end up either stretched or letterboxed. In fact, I could choose a *lot* of random/useless resolutions - but not 1440x900.

10.6 was "missing" the resolution on my 2010 MacBook Pro. My 2006 MacBook Pro can select 1440x900 just fine. I figured 10.7 would put 1440x900 back on my 2010 MacBook Pro... Nope!

I ended up buying SwitchResX (http://www.madrau.com/). That put 1440x900 back on there. It's listed for 14.00 € (~$17.76) on their website.

Code:
1) System Preferences -> SwitchResX -> Color LCD -> Custom Resolutions
2) Hit "+" -> Scaled Resolution -> 1440x900
3) Apply. No reboot needed.

I'm yet to understand how I'm going to be better off with the new OS. I don't use cloud services and from what i have seen so far, it all seems too cosmetic and no substance.

What's floating all of you?

No known issues :) Let me laugh at this statement. Still SMB sharing is broken en not functioning properly as it was under Snow Leopard. Every time again setting up a share the password is somehow corrupted after the reboot and requires to set it up again. Even clean installs show this issue....
First fix the bugs before attempting to introduce new useless features or even a new OS

Oooh. Thanks. I was wondering if this build would be compatible w/ the RMBPs. I cross-referenced w/ Geekbench and see that it is.

Here's hoping that this includes the following:
1. User-created Quartz Filters don't work. At all. Try duplicating an existing Filter in ColorSync Utility, and nothing happens when you apply it to a PDF file.

2. If you have "Open each document in a new window" as a preference in Preview, you can't print files directly from the Finder that open in Preview. You get an error message.

3. The "Save As PDF-X" workflow present in 10.6 is no longer in Lion. It cannot be copied from Snow Leopard. It cannot be entirely replicated in Automator, and the closest equivalent actions flag errors in Safari and Mail.

4. If you Duplicate and Save a PDF in Preview and apply a Quartz Filter in the Save dialog, the file on disk has the filter applied, but the window in Preview (which has the new filename) doesn't.

Personally, I love many of the things in Lion that people complain about, like Resume and AutoSave. I find AirDrop really useful too. There's much that's improved over 10.6. But there's loads that still needs fixing. I'm hoping this is it.

If you don't use iCloud, then there's not much point. But if I didn't want iCloud, I'd still be on 10.6. iCloud, however, rocks, so I'll be upgrading again.

Also, dictation would be pretty cool if it's as good as on the iPhone 4s. And the new safari, and the ability to receive on my Mac iMessages sent to my iPhone's phone number.

Please please please fix hiding applications, where they don't get sent to the end of the application switcher (CMD+TAB).

I repeat this every time a new 10.7.x release is pending. This is the only thing broke in Lion that drives me up the wall when it comes to workflow/productivity!
