Airport Extreme sounds

Does anyone else's Airport Extreme 2011 make sounds? It's very very low, but a slight whirring sound comes out from it.

Am I the only one? And if not, what is this a sign of?

Mine makes a small squealing noise. My guess is that it is simply a sort of "electronic hum."

Never noticed any sound on mine.
Must add, mine is on the ceiling.

That is almost signal leak from your router / modem. If you have the unit connected directly to the router, change the ethernet cable. You could also disconnect it and go wifi. If that gets rid of the noise, you know.

I've had similar feedback and a cable change did the trick for me.

Mine makes a similar noise, but only when a lot of data is being passed via the wireless - when Im downloading for example.
