Any guesses, based on past history, when Apple will announce the next event? If the event will take place on 9.12, when should we get the announcement?

November. iPhone 4s is less than a year old and a bunch of prepaid carriers just got it a few months ago.

Apple doesn't care about the prepaid carriers. Their US sales are with the top three, followed by direct sales of factory unlocked devices once the contract carriers get their hands on the early purchasers.

The iPhone 4 was over a year old before it was finally replaced. Nothing different.
