If it is a Chrome error, from what I can tell it has been happening on PC's also from what I've read on other forums.

Regarding Caffeine, I have it on my computer, so I'm gonna try leaving it on and seeing whether it still does the sudden sleep with the log statement "WindowServer[85]: handle_will_sleep_auth_and_shield_windows: no lock state data"

I'm gonna throw a wrench into things and say that I've had this happen twice to me, but not when using Chrome. My MBP went to sleep immediately following watching a tv show or movie on iTunes when running on battery power and on fullscreen. As soon as it switched out of fullscreen back to iTunes, black screen and it went to sleep.

Never had the sleep issue when browsing on Chrome though.

To be fair, i don't have PROOF that it is chrome's fault yet, but it has happened to show up in the log almost every time. the only consistant part is the last 4 lines of the log. something appears to be triggering it. but i don't know what.

interestingly, I have been trying to isolate the problem. I have been using a tool called, better touch tool (so that it gives me better control over trackpad gestures).

I thought perhaps thats the issue. i quit it two days ago and i havent seen the screen go to sleep yet....

i'll keep monitoring the situation for now

Same issue this morning, despite not having better touch tool running. quitting iCal because I see a few problems from iCal.
Next step will be to test not having chrome running

It seems as though the software update a few weeks ago seems to have fixed the problem I was having. The screen hasn't randomly shut off since then. I will continue to monitor and see what happens.

Any news / updates regarding this issue?

This has now happened twice with a late 2012 mac mini.

has anyone figured this out? My 2011 mini does this lots, but I only noticed it since upgrading to Mavericks. I have done a fresh install of Mavericks since and the issue remains. I have even disabled all sleep mode preferences and this still happens.

I am still using Mountain Lion and had this issue for one whole day, yesterday. Resetting SMC and PRAM did not help. Found from the logs that everything started happening after a GoogleSoftwareUpdate, after which a lot of software updates occurred and then this problem started. Remembered then, that the day before I had started using Chrome when debugging a program using Netbeans and had in the process installed Chrome. So I uninstalled Chrome (I anyway use the Macs Safari and don't like the lack of privacy and control over info going in and taken out when using Chrome) and GoogleSoftwareUpdate and so far the problem has disappeared. I have for good measure also uninstalled NetBeans but I think the problem is mainly due to the GoogleSoftwareUpdate s which screwed some system preference. Also, I have made sure that now the screensaver kicks in much later (example never), because sometimes the screensaver kicking in early even if the sleeps are set for 1-3 hours can cause the computer to go to sleep. Hope that this may solve problems to anyone going through what I did yesterday.
