Why won't Apple offer the MacBook Air in more colors? I made the corners of the display black (that counts as a redesign, right?) and added colors.

I love it.

Yep, I'd trade in my brand new MBA for a colored one right now. I think colored aluminum, like the iPod Nanos, looks really good. I don't expect Apple to do it anytime soon though, there is something off about making a $1200+ computer look like a toy (even if a lot of people like it that way).

Bad idea. It would take away from the instant recognition factor that the aluminum chassis has. That is so desirable that other Windows machines are trying to copy it to make them selves look like a Mac.

If you want a color buy a skin.

Yeah, but I think they'll be offering the classic old design too.

IMO, a little wear and tear looks beautiful.

I don't really understand the pointing of insisting something that will be used (and used often) maintain a showroom look.

Here's an example, the transformers in the recent movies, the bots sure looked better with some nicks and dings on them. (Though I've always found it weird that the scratches would disappear in vehicle mode...)

More choices = always better.

But no, I kinda like the current one, it's not Grey, it's Champagne Gold. ;)

To me color works with plastic, not metal, and am unanimous on that.

It's my dream to get one from ColorWare. I don't know why I didn't get one this time around seeing as I spent a fortune on a maxed out 11" mid 2012 MBA.

Color wouldn't drive a buying decision for me, but I think it's a cool idea. Probably lots of "scratchgate" potential with it though.

If I went for a colored MBA though, I would want a tinted backlight too.

The Thing Is:

The thing is: They have to offer us something:

Apple isn't going to put the Retina Display anytime soon

Therefore they should offer a black version of the MacBook Air just to differentiate it from the rest of the lineup.

And they could be "anodized" any color.

An anodized stove-top espresso maker: For example:

Well I like it and I might actually get one next summer when the next MBA comes out. The screen isn't edge to edge, the bezel is just black.

The slogans you threw on those pictures are pretty ridiculous.

And the colors you chose aren't ones they would pick if they did, it wouldn't be deep colors, more likely to be the colors the iPods are following.

I have been wanting a colored Apple computer for awhile though since the iBook/iMac G3 days are over. I doubt it will happen though.
