macbook 1,1 logic board upgrade, can i get some input

I honestly cannot remember how I did it. I attempted to do it again, but I wasn't able to. I kept getting the same thing you did.

i just got me a ssd to get it running for now.

i do have another question though i bought a sandisk ssd model# sdssdp-128g-g25 and i have heard such thing as needing to trim the ssd every once and a while and after some searching around i can find nothing of a trim tool for the standard sandisk ssd.

Sorry for resurrecting such an old thread... I have an old white MacBook1,1 laying around. I already tried everything above. Has anyone here (besides Intell) successfully flashed the MacBook2,1 firmware onto a 1,1?

I really doubt that's possible. The person who said they did it, apparently did so to get around the 2 GB RAM limitation in the 1,1 -- but that's a limitation inherent to the 945GM chipset used in the 1,1. IIRC, the 2,1 uses the 945PM chipset, which is an entirely different Intel part. If you really wanted to get more than 2 GB of RAM in your 1,1 you'd have to either desolder both the CPU and Northbridge chip, and replace it with a Core 2 Duo and a 945PM...or just replace your 1,1 motherboard with a 2,1 motherboard. (Just be sure that you're getting one with the same connector type -- IIRC, all of the MacBook 1,1s had 4-wall connectors...)

The MacBook2,1 uses the same 945GM chipset as the MacBook1,1. The 945PM doesn't include the GMA 950 which the '2,1 very much has, to our dismay 😉

The 945GM can use more than 2 GB RAM if paired with a Core 2 Duo.

Not exactly. If it's possible to turn a Core Solo or Core Duo Mac Mini 1,1 into a 2,1 simply by flashing the firmware, it should be possible with the Macbook1,1. A Core Duo Mac Mini with the 2,1 firmware will happily run, but won't use more than 2GB of memory, even with 4GB installed.

I'm curious then why it won't work on the MacBook 1,1 (from what we've seen) if it does work on the Mac mini 1,1.
