having hard time coming up w/ concept

Im trying to come up with a way to visualize 'liberal study' The concepts I am coming up with just are not very strong. Was wondering if anyone had anything to offer as a way to make this work visually. Any input appreciated. Thanks guys

What does 'liberal study' mean exactly? Could you examplify or clarify please?

I tend to do a Google Image search to get inspired (in my case for icon designs). I do that for the main concept and some related terms.
I then combine some of those ideas into a new icon.
