'iPad Mini' Pricing to Begin at Approximately $329

9to5Mac reports that pricing for the "iPad mini" is likely to begin at approximately $329 for the entry-level Wi-Fi model, with two higher-capacity models arriving at $429 and $529.

Three models of cellular-capable iPad minis will also be available and appear set to carry the same $130 premium over their corresponding Wi-Fi models as seen with the full-size iPad, putting these iPad mini models at $459/$559/$659.

Likely pricing matrix for iPad mini models
The iPad mini is just one of the products Apple is expected to introduce at next Tuesday's media event, with revised full-size iPads, a 13-inch Retina MacBook Pro, and updated iMac and Mac mini models all said to be coming next week.

So, I'm looking at around $350 for a base model with taxes. I guess I won't be selling my iPad 3 then.

I figured it'd be in the $300 price range. I was hoping $299 min though.

Hmmm, I wonder if that'll be $329 for 8GB. Either way, that's a bit too high. I was planning on getting one, but not at that price. Could probably find an iPad (3rd gen) close to that price on Craigslist.

At $659 for the highest end model it better have a retina screen with LTE and probably an A6 processor. I bet Apple is forced to revise the full size iPad at the same time to justify the higher price.

I sure won't be buying one, honestly I'm not the type of person to use tablets often, so I would just settle for a Nexus 7..

I want one, but I wouldn't hesitate to snap one up at $299. Now I'm going to have to think about it.

Whoa iPad 3gen 16gb will at least be 400 anything less and I'd be skeptical I just was on Craigslist

Not that Apple has been concerned playing a race to the bottom, but I remember prices on the original iPad were supposed to be approaching $999 and Apple was like, "BLAM, $499!".

Either that will happen again, or this thing might have a retina screen. Otherwise, they are conceding low-end of the 7" market.

$329 better be 16GB minimum, seeing as Android alternatives are $199-299 for 7" or 8.9" 16GB models or the Kindle Fire HD 32GB is $249.

So I guess I was wrong. I earlier commented on that I thought Apple would sell the cheapest edition for around $249 in order to give no breathing space for the competition at all. With $329, that just won't happen. Apple will keep being Apple, competing by features and not price. But hey, it's been working out fairly well for them so far... Just that it probably won't be a competition killer in this tablet segment, although likely still snatching quite a market share.

It'll probably start at 16 GB. If they are pushing textbooks for this thing, which it looks like they will be, 8 GB is a non-starter.

The $659 model is undoubtedly a 64 GB LTE, same A5 non-retina as the rest.

I could see Apple updating the 3 to the A6 and Lightning, though.

Should have been $299 for the entry model with 8GB. Or maybe even $250 if they use an A5 and non-retina screen to keep the costs down a bit more.

At $329 it's more than a 50% premium over something like the Nexus 7. Starting at $250 would still give it a 25% premium price, but I think a TON more people would get it.

Check Craigslist in the Los Angeles area. Right at the top just saw one for $375 16GB, and one $415 32GB, and probably can get that down to $400.

And seeing how taxes here in CA are high, the iPad mini would run me close to $360.

I'm very skeptical. The Kindle Fire HD is $199 with 16gb, and even if Apple won't match that pricing, they have to know they'd sell way more at $299 than $329.

You can be certain with this pricing the base capacity will be higher than 8gb, though.

Wish it was $199 or even $249 I think they priced the iPod Touch too high.

So we're talking at least 229 then? Maybe even 249. The Nexus is available for around 180 so it's not really going to trouble Nexus sales.

What's the point? iPad 2 is $399. So is a used iPad (3).

Apple needed something at $249 to really compete with Kindle and others. Oh well. I'm sure they will still sell tons.

8GB is the OS, a few apps, tunes and maybe a movie if you are lucky.

I remember that too, everyone thought they were going to have a very expensive tablet on their hands... and now $499 is too expensive.
