stuck trying to restore ipod

Hi,

I have an 80GB ipod that I'm trying to restore. I hold down menu and home button until the apple logo appears. iTunes states that it needs to prepare ipod for recovery. and on the ipod screen I get a message that says 'do not disconnect' that flashes.

I've left this for over an hour, but nothing seems to be happpening

any ideas?

yeah it just happened to me too i think the Hard Drive is screwed

Maybe try restoring the backup manually through iTunes when its connected to your MAC? Worked for me a few months ago and given me loads of extra time with my IPod! I too thought it was totally lost when I got the same error message you did
