iPhone will not let me navigate to certain websites over AT&T 4G/LTE

A funny thing is happening on my iPhone 5 running iOS 6.0.1 (and was also occurring while running iOS 6.0). It has been happening ever since the hurricane, so I don't know if that has anything to do with it.

Anyways, there are 2 websites that I frequent that require you to log in to view any of the pages within. No, not porn. About a week ago, over 4G/LTE I was able to navigate to and within these websites without any problems. Now, over the past 3-4 days, one of the websites says my ip is banned and I can't even log into it. The 2nd website will let me log in, but will not remember that I'm logged in (even if I click on the "log me in automatically each visit" button). So, when I navigate to another page on this site, the log-in screen continuously keeps reappearing.

Now, if I try to go to these websites using my iPhone over WiFi (at Starbucks, home, or work), none of the above problems occur. It is just when I'm on AT&T 4G/LTE (using Safari or any other browser I have tried). Is anyone else having similar problems and what could be the cause of this?

Using wifi instead of cellular presents your phone as different public IP addresses. Because AT&T uses a range of dynamically assigned IP addresses you may have been assigned an IP address that someone else had and was banned. Personally I think that's a long shot and I assume you did something intentionally and got banned or unintentionally (too many login attempts) that triggered the site's defenses.

Follow up with the site's administrators to find out why you are banned.

I wasn't banned though. The first website is what.cd. I can easily log on at home, which is my primary ip and has been for months. But when I'm away from home and using 4G/LTE, it says my ip has been banned.

As for the other website, I can easily log in (again, not banned), but every time I navigate to a new page it prompts me to log in again. Just with 4G/LTE.

And this behavior is all new. It wasn't happening 5-7 days ago.

Maybe, If you we're in an area affected by the hurricane, service is probably just barely enough to sustain... those websites might be bandwidth heavy are being blocked until they get the networks in better shape... Anyone else have any possible ideas?

I'm in the DC area. We were hit, but it wasn't that bad. The power didn't even go out (which usually happens when someone sneezes around here).

Perhaps, but one would think "the internet" would have heard about this. It would be precedent setting. And it doesn't explain why I have to keep logging into the other website, which does nothing illegal. Unless these two problems are unrelated and it's just a coincidence.

Well, I certainly cannot speak for other users, I use it to download non-commercially available music, such as bootlegs and other rarities. In fact, I'm fairly certain that what.cd's music "database" is larger than what iTunes has to offer. Anyways, I digress.

So, to update this thread. And I do so to help other people out there who may have had the same problem as me.

2 days ago, in addition to the 2 websites above, I noticed that I could no longer access Google Scholar to look up some journal articles. I received a "sorry" error message saying that my ip was blocked due to unusual heavy traffic volume from my ip. I became very angry over this and began writing a complaint to them. They asked for my ip and I went to look it up on whatsmyip.com. Interestingly, this website told me that my iPhone was running through a proxy named "Onavo".

Now, some of you may know that Onavo is an iPhone app that monitors your exact data usage of your iPhone. When you install this app, it has you install a network "profile". After finding this out, I uninstalled the profile. Whatsmyip still said I was running through a proxy. I then finally had to do a network reset which erased this malware off my iPhone. I call this malware because it single handedly crippled the use of 3 websites I often used. Now, with it gone these websites run perfectly. Complaint is going to Apple next. It's in their App Store.
