As for the 500MB, I should remind anyone who doesn't already know and is under the age of 24 - Orange currently give you 1GB of extra data if you're under 24. Search U24 Orange. So you'd end up with 1.5GB of data.
Thank you so much, I was never informed of this but will be taking advantage of this offer! I wonder if it still works on EE though?

Well EE is just Orange and T-Mobile's signal sharing scheme/4G marketing. You still need to pick either Orange or T-Mobile to go with.

So if you pick Orange, tell them you're under 24, they'll give you another 1GB of data.

Whether that deal applies to the LTE data plans I don't know.

Well I made the cut off by 3 months, so in a year's time when my 12-month contract ends, count me in on the ageism bandwagon!

I've had 2 successful reservations, one i turned down because i was stupid, anyway that's a long story. And to answer your question my first email came at 20:57 (8:57pm) and my second email which came today and picking phone up tomorrow came at 20:47 (8:47pm) I'm pretty sure your supposed to receive an email by 9pm. Hope this helps and good luck!

Today I did a speed test on my T-Mobile iPhone 5. 19.8meg down, 2.8 up.

Why on earth would I move to EE and get 4g limited to 15meg, and with a data limit?

Currently I pay 21 a month for unlimited everything. To get 8gb data its 56?! Is insane.

It makes no sense whatsoever.

Confused by EEs stupid prices.

What makes you think 4G is limited to 15mbps or are you just assuming ? Like with 3G the speeds will vary and in some areas it will probably be a lot faster then 3G. Yes the prices may be high but what were you expecting when EE has no competition at the moment.

Got my 32 GB BLK IP5 reserved on the 5th Oct yesterday. Not at all happy with the slow delivery but am happy to finally have my phone.

It sure is a major leap from my 3GS. Does feel a bit too light for me personally.

After all that waiting it just Feels like a super minii Pad3 tbh lol what was I expecting anyway

E mails are usually sent out by 9pm.

I received mine at 20:39 which I received on my 14th attempt.

Patience certainly is a virtue !

Had a bit of fun with trying to get my 5 through the 3 network. Pre-ordered a 32gb one Saturday, was phoned on the Wednesday to say the phone was in. Went on the following Saturday to collect and was told it was 'first come, first served' and the phone was sold to someone else.

So I told them I wasn't interested, cancelled the new contract and was offered a 64gb for 100 with O2 for a contract 5 a month cheaper than I pay with Vodafone.

Either way, loving the iPhone 5.

Switched my Orange iPhone 5 contract to an EE contract and they posted me out an EE sim card. I was surprised that they didn't simply just use my Orange number. Instead, the EE was an entirely new contract with a new mobile number. It was a bit of an annoyance giving out my new Orange number, now my new EE number.

My Orange account is now showing as out of contract. I'll call them tomorrow to make sure they close the account.

There's a bit of a crossover I think, as it looks like I'll have to pay Orange a month of the contract and EE a month of the contract.

LTE is fast though. Here's the speeds I got today in London.

London Reservation

Hey

few question about reserving an iphone 5 in london

1. is there a recommended store that gets more stocks than other stores
2. can i reserve on dif. emails from different ip's and still get a good chance
3. Is it possible on 1 successful order to get 2 different type of iphone
say i chosen 32gb white iphone and i want a 2nd one not to be the same but rather a 32gb black one

thanks in advance for the help

Simon

So yesterday I went into three EE stores in the morning, looking to sign myself away on the 8GB contract. None had iPhone 5 64GB stock, they all either had the small ones or reserved stock only. So I left empty handed.

Then in the afternoon someone reminded me that Apple do contacts in their stores, and they might have got stock of EE 4G SIMs...

So I went into an Apple Store in the afternoon. It was as hideous as the last time I was in there - a thousand and one people in the way just checking their Facebook or looking at iPads with no intention of parting with cash. When I finally managed to find an assistant after about 10 minutes it went like:
Me: "Have you got any iPhone 5 stock?"
Her: "Nope sorry. We're still doing the reservation system"
Me: "Eh?"
Her: "You need to go on the Apple website this evening, click reserve, and then you might get an email giving you a slot tomorrow if you're lucky".
Me: "Ah that's a shame. I was in the EE store earlier looking to sign up a new 4G contract but they had no stock".
Her: "Oh, you want a contract? In that case we do have iPhone 5 stock".
Me: "Didn't you just say you don't have stock?"
Her: "We do if you're taking out a contract. Go and speak with my colleague over there, he'll sort you out".

Don't ask my why they didn't like the idea of taking 699 off of someone for an unlocked iPhone 5 64GB but magically do have stock when it's a contract!

So after about 10 minutes of queuing to see this bloke (popular guy!) I then got seated for a 10 minute wait to see a "specialist". I didn't ask what his specialism was in, he was just a "specialist".

So finally I was getting signed up. He was decent, efficient, and exactly what my experience should have been HALF AN HOUR AGO. The EE portal he was using on his iPad to process my contract did randomly decide to show T-Mobile tariffs only half way through resulting in him having to restart the whole process, and I noticed that all the terms and conditions referred to the provider as T-Mobile (looks like they've only changed the logo), but anyways I eventually got what I wanted. I had to ring up EE myself in the evening to give my PAC though, as when restarting the process the "specialist" reckoned that doing the PAC in the order portal might be causing problems.

So then today I went near Southampton (Hedge End) for the Lexus dealer, and whilst there got a glimpse of LTE signal.

Pretty good speeds for zero bars! I'll be in my London office next week so hopefully I'll have proper signal to give it a good hammering!

One thing I've noticed is that even falling back to 3G, EE's 3G speeds are significantly faster than I ever got on O2.

From what my short experience I'll try to answer some of your questions

I was very lucky to finally get a reservation confirmation email at the Kingston apple store at 8:32pm earlier this evening. I have been trying for 5 days including today at pretty much all of the London stores including White City Westfield, Stratford City Westfield, Covent Garden, Brent Cross, Regent Street and of course Kingston's Bentall Centre. I've read a lot online on people's tips and opinions on how to be successful in getting that confirmation email but I decided to call the White City apple store earlier today to ask how the reservation system really works. I called White City specifically because it is the nearest one to me and I was hoping I'd be able to pick up from there but never mind. Anyways I told the lady on the phone, that I'd been trying to reserve an unlocked iphone 5 in White 64GB, but unfortunately had not yet been successful. I then asked her if she could estimate when I would be successful and she replied by saying 'I'm sorry to say this because it may not be what you want to hear, the reservations system is basically operated on a lottery system, so the only thing I can suggest is to either order online for delivery, or keep trying to reserve everyday and hopefully you'll get luck soon'. Thank God I got lucky only a few hours after that phone call because it had actually started to feel like it was never going to happen for me and I really did not want to order online what with it being a 3-4 week wait, I'd much rather go into the store and collect it for myself! So in my experience, Kingston was the one that came through for me.

My method was basically using 5 different email addresses but the same name and number simply because I didn't want to run the risk of putting a fake name like others have done and then be asked for ID in the store to confirm the identity used for reserving, I'm not sure how strict they are but I didn't want to risk it. So I would basically reserve the sim free 64GB white iPhone 5 at each store using each email address which would come up to 5 reservations per store. At first I'd do that whole process pretty early for example by 9.30am I'd be done, but for today and yesterday I did the same thing but I'd repeat it again throughout the day. So I'd do the first lot of 5 reservations per store using 5 different email addresses but same name and number at around 10am, then again at 1pm, then again 3pm then again quickly from around 4.30ish. I did all of this mostly on my laptop but then also some from my BlackBerry, some from my iPhone and then some from my iPad.

I've only been trying to reserve the white 64GB sim free iPhone 5 because that is all I want. So I guess you could mix and match and if you're really extra lucky be successful twice but I couldn't tell you for sure, you might find that you'd get one before the other but keep trying!

So I hope all that information helped, I tried to be as detailed as possible, considering that it took 5 days for me to get that wonderful but rare email, I'd consider myself rather lucky as there are others that have waited longer and also I managed to avoid ordering it online - result! I'll be going to pick mine up tomorrow and I absolutely cannot wait, my case and screen protectors are here already and my nano sim has already been provided by orange but I haven't yet activated it because I've not had the handset to do that so I am fully prepared! The time slot provided was originally 2 to 3pm but I have to be at work at 2pm so I changed it to 12 to 1pm. I'm not fussed about receiving help on how to set up and activate the iPhone 5 and whatever, I just want to open it in store to check that it's in perfect condition and then I'll be leaving and doing all the setting up and what have you when I get home in the evening after work and then I can go about getting rid of my 4S which I will miss but I'm glad for the opportunity to change to the newer addition!

Good luck and I hope you manage to get your hands on one ASAP!

Everyone's 3G seems to have sped up since the 4G introduction on T-Mobile/Orange/EE thanks to the increased backbone capacity. I'm getting stupid speeds on 3G, easily double what I did before.

1. Probably only higher management know the distribution amounts.

2, people are getting different results. I only put one reservation in per day and on my 14 attempt was successful for a sim free model. Seems contract customers are having a higher success rate.

3, No.

Yes, mine did about thirty minutes after I put it in my phone. I didn't need to do anything, other than remove the Orange SIM and replace it with the EE one.

Interestingly, I'm now on T-Mobile's network, my MNC CC shows 234-30 (T-Mobile), before it was 234-33 (Orange), but my voicemail has not changed. EE must be closer to integrating the networks than I realised.

Well I finally got my iPhone 5 on Saturday but to be quite frank, I think I'm going to take it back. For 600 I'm just not impressed enough by it and there's already a nick in the bezel at the top, despite me treating it with a lot of care. I can use my money more wisely - might even get an iPad mini instead and save the other 340

I really wanted to like it but despite the fact that the screen on my iPhone 4 has a crack, I think I'll sit this upgrade out and wait for the next iteration. Haven't fully decided but at the moment I really don't see the benefit. It doesn't help that I spend half my time in a place where there's little to no 3G signal.
